Default Tampa SUNDAY 01-27-08

Pick 4:

Race 8 - Clm 16000 6.0f Dirt Interesting dynamic here as 5 of the 9 entrants are running 1st off a claim and moving up in class from their last race.

7 - Classy and Elusive - May run them off their feet here if the new pinhead can read the form. Going for four in a row. 2nd
8- Red Liquor n' Lace - Will be running late if things get crazy on the front end. Won
5 - Champagne Party - Should get a stalking trip under the red hot Rosemary Homeister.

Race 9 - MSW 20k 6.0f Dirt

4 - Classic Humor - Showed speed going two turns on the grass and a couple of decent works. KOC quietly having a very nice meet. 4th
8 - Coffee Can - Dam has 1 first time out winner from 2 other starters. Hal Queen homebred should sit a nice stalking trip from her outside post. Won
1A - Our Favorite Gal - Has shown a penchant for finishing third, which is not good, but her last was pretty good off nearly a year layoff. 2nd
6 - Sun Shower - Figs say yes, 9 slices in 11 races says no. Obvious class drop, but no sure thing. Very vulnerable chalk. 3rd

Race 10 - Alw 23500 NC Abt 1 Mile Turf Excellent turf race here, should be fun to watch...and wager. Off the turf...so much for a nice race....

5 - Patricia - Confirmed turf/synth form...dirt?...but she is in rare form so she stays on the ticket.
9 - Shapira - Won a restricted stake at Belmont over turf listed as good. From the looks of the Tampa turf yesterday, it is still much less than firm (Jocks were covered with mud splatter after the races). Second in a Chilean Grade 2 on the dirt.
7 - Tens Holy Spirit - Solid past dirt form. Front end threat.
2 - Pay the Man - Will try to steal it on the front end. Enters with a bullet and starts from the rail.
3 - Tiger Belle - Shows no dirt wins, but has been running against much tougher than these. Placed in the Gr 3 Stage Door Betty at CRC a year ago.

Race 11 - Clm 5000N2Y 6.0f Dirt

11 - Expect Colonial - Ness/Centeno 'nuff said.
2 - Lake Egri - Finished third to two repeat winners in his last. Third off a layoff, ready to fire his best shot.

Small ticket:
5,7,8/1,4,6,8/2,3,5,7,9/11 = $60

Big ticket:
5,6,7,8/1,4,6,8/2,3,5,7,9/2,11 = $160

GL to all playing today.

I've got Classy and Elusive as a bet against today moving up to open 16 for the first time - the step up from conditioned claiming has been huge here so far and while she won at open 8, it wasn't near as impressive as her conditioned 16 efforts. .. gonna use her as a hedge, but think there is some great opportunity / value in that race - guessing we're back off the turf again - a lot of scratches in the 4th and 10th....

Really sucks that they are off the turf. It barely sprinkled at the track yesterday. I guess it will be in good shape for Tuesday/KNS because it isn't getting chewed up today.

Alll these off the turfers at TAM (and FG) are killing me. So many good races ruined. So much time and effort wasted.

I put a few dollars on Moonglide in the opener. Can't go wrong with the Ho Maestro.
