THG Won't Approve Churchill ADW Signal
www.bloodhorse.com
The THG, which represents 18 horsemen’s groups across the nation, has told TrackNet, the content consortium of Churchill Downs Inc. and Magna Entertainment Corp., that it will withhold ADW signal distribution rights for the upcoming Churchill Downs spring meet – as well as at Calder Race Course – unless its demands for a new revenue-sharing model are met. The signals have already been withheld at Lone Star Park, which started its meet April 10.

When they redo this agreement will it mean a bigger take-out or will the tracks suck it up, LS has started a new pk-5 for a buck with just a 12% take out, If the deal gets done I would think this could become a national favorite,

the sport shoots itself in the foot again - was lookin forward to a few days vacation relaxing at home enjoying racing rather than the expense of traveling - so other than Plan (b) which would be heading to the OTB (not the end of the world, in fact is starting to sound appealing), what would plan (c) wagering options be???
“In our industry, deals are often cut on the eve of a meet’s opening,” he said. “So I am hopeful that happens again here, but I am not confident that it will.” If things hold course, CDI’s Twinspires.com platforms and MEC’s XpressBet.com won’t have rights to the Churchill meet. Competitors TVG and Youbet.com weren’t likely to have the meet anyway, since they have been at odds with TrackNet since the joint venture was formed in March 2007. http://news.bloodhorse.com/viewstory.asp?id=44674 |

This is awesome. I love the THG, literally. Finally someone drew the line in the sand and said GFY you scum suckers.
Online wagering is a great thing, when run right. About three years ago when Youbet had every track (but FG), it was a good thing. Hopefully the THG is about to bring it back to the glory days. |

I had the same type of problem in Vegas (of all places) 2 yrs ago with Keeneland's signal. They didn't have the contract worked out, so on KEE's opening fall day, you couldn't bet on it anywhere in Vegas.... they did work out the contract so that you could bet starting with the second race.
Low and behold, I nailed the cold tri in the opener... and couldn't bet it. UGH! |

You have these horseman that think they are business people sitting down at tables with guys like Daruty, and Daruty takes them to school, and then two years later the horseman start bitching on the bad deal. Finally, these horseman have realized to lead a group handle this stuff so they stop getting screwed. It is EXTREMELY classic that Twinspires.com COULD NOT HAVE THE KENTUCKY DERBY. And quite honestly, I hope they don't have it because then they will realize what they are missing. As I said when this whole mess was going down, the ONLY WAY TO WAKE THESE CLOWNS UP is to take money from their pocket, make them eat one less cookie at dinner and drink two less beers becuase they are getting squeezed. TAKE SOME FOOD OFF THEIR TABLE and see if they like it, and they will come to terms real f'n quick |
