Motovato
I was just looking at the Beyer leader board on DRF.com and a 3 year-old named Motovato earned a 111 BSF on April 25th in an allowance at Calder that he won by 15. I know he's trained by Marty Wolfson and he's a Proud Citizen out of a Slew City Slew mare but I don't know much else about him. . . Does anybody (Drugs, maybe?)? I'm surprised he hasn't been talked about - must be because of the signal issues @ CRC.

He's a Pletcher castoff that was miraculously transformed into Seattle Slew in its first start for Marty Wolfson.
If only Todd had know to clean his teeth.

Thanks - I've never been too suspicious of Wolfson but that's a pretty extreme turnaround. . .

Wolfson won the Breeders Cup Mile with Miesque's Approval - who had tailed off badly for Mott.
Motovato broke his maiden very early on, I want to say at Delaware Park in one of those 5 furlong baby dashes around this time last year. I know Indian Charlie was very high on him - I told him I didn't think he was all that much. After that win, he was transferred to Pletcher, where the horse flat out sucked. |

I don't think he was " transfered " to Pletcher....he was bought from Contessa's connections as I recall.
He was absolutely dreadful in his races for Pletcher at Gulfstream.

A Gary Contessa sales graduate, after he broke his maiden at Delaware.
Ed Gann bought the horse, and moved it to Pletcher. I think his first start was a graded stake. He subsequently has done nothing. They sent the horse to Wolfson. I had known about him from day one, before he raced. I saw him in the stake, and then one more start. I got tipped off to him, again, after he was moved to Wolfson and his last two works had been very strong -- stronger than the report apparently. Eric |
