My champion Catahoula Dog died today.
His name was Southern Lights Shaka Zulu and everyone knew who he was. He was a champion livestock and hunting dog. He was 9.5 years old and I remember the moment he was born, he has never left my side. We loved him so much. He was Top Ten in the nation before he was 6 months old. He was black and kind of ugly and everyone made fun of him except when it came to hunting.
He died in his sleep last nite. I am so sad and I can't sleep so here I am on the internet late at night looking at his pictures and trying to take my mind off it. Zulu was my friend, my companion and my bodyguard and I will miss him so much. He was a good boy. |

Sorry for your loss.
Did he like music? If so, was he a fan of A Tribe Called Quest? |

Beth,
Very sorry to read about the passing of your Catahoula.. I had never heard of the breed before this morning, but they sound like wonderful companions. I'm sure his memory will always brings you joy... For everybody to see Beth's interesting dog... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catahoula_Leopard_Dog

Ms. Fan; It has been brought to my attention that you are a very nice lady. This is very unique on this board. But anyways.....I am very sorry for your sorrow....that you feel bad ,I mean. I ,too, know how sad this can be. I think it was the word "champion" that got my noodle off track. I consider myself a fan of the every man....and doggie. I realize I can be taken the wrong way...I certainly go too far at times....so please accept my sincere apology...and my personal condolences for your fine wuffies passing. |

You said that he never left your side and this is cliche but I know he'll never leave your heart. Someday you'll be able to think of him and smile. I hope that day comes soon. I'm really sorry. |

Thanks for all the kind thoughts, it's always sad when we lose our pets.
My oh my, Pants and Morte' you have been busy boys. Yes I would need more than 15 mins to respond, I don't keep up like you guys. You may stay or go, as you wish. Morte' - I am sorry your noodle is upset he was a champion, I too have every day pets, but Zulu, well he was a working dog, yes he earned a paycheck. You should actually like that he was a champion, he was a Top Predator, he hunted wild boar hogs in the swamps down here. He would eat you Morte' and then spit you out. And of course he was related to the wolf. I do thank you for the sweet poetry you have sent me to try to make amends, I try to be a nice lady. I'm sorry for your sammy. Pants - yes as a matter of fact Zulu did like music, and he was black in a tribe of pretty, spotted, blue-eyed dogs. And no he would not be allowed to be entered in the beauty pagents, well maybe not allowed but laughed at, people made fun of him until it was time to hunt. Oh and I did find you in disguise. Steve - yes they are a very interesting and loyal breed. He intervened and stopped livestock from charging me on more than one occasion. I'll try to post a pic later the file is to large. I have a picture of his litter I would like to share, especially for those unfamiliar with catahoulas. Again thank you for the kind thoughts and words. |

Boy do I have a lot to say regarding the above. Fourth..I mean First--I am so sorry you have a busy bee life and I don't....excuuuse ME. Second---I like him even more knowing he hunted prey. Third----But the follow up you made was ucalled for..as well as untrue. Fourth---Wolf? ...this is a good thing...did not know that. Fifth-----I did not..I repeat..I did NOT send you any pm of any kind. Recheck the name of the sender....if my name was ,in fact, on it then it was that sneak thief Steve or that shameful do gooder Thebby who did it. And thank you about Sammy. |

Beth:
I'm really sorry for your loss. They are cool dogs ... a friend of mine had one and he was very loyal and quite the hunter. Zulu was very fortunate to have such a good mom to take care of him.

I would like to share a story about Zulu with you all.
But I didn't know him so I can't. So I will share one with you all about Sammy. I may have told it before, but too bad. My Father was a great animal trainer. He would even sit Sam on his lap and try to stick his head in Sams mouth...but that's not the story. When we first got Sam my Father immediately began house training. Now don't take that literally....you know what I mean. The first time Sam whizzed inside.....my Father rubbed his nose in it and threw him out the window . Sharp as a tack.....the next time Sam whizzed in the house he rubbed his nose in it and jumped out the window. Dad was lucky to have had such a smart animal. |

Hopefully Dimmy has now received my do- it- yourself autopsy kit and can finally make a finding on his cause of death.
