'Team Curlin' gets OK for NY license (7pm update)

Progress in push to get to the Man o' War... The officials said on Tuesday that they believe Curlin will be ruled eligible to race by the end of the week. Entries for the Man o' War will be taken on Wednesday. Steve Asmussen, the trainer of Curlin, said on Tuesday that he had been told that Curlin would be eligible to race in New York. "Very recently I've been told we've been okayed in New York, and the plan is to ship to New York on Thursday," Asmussen said during a conference call.

Curlin's connections will certainly know where they stand regarding his abilities on turf after the man o war. If he can toy with the likes of Red Rocks (even though he is deeply flattered by being called a BC Turf winner!) , they know they have a very good turf horse..

Curlin a Man o' War 'go'... The New York State Racing and Wagering Board will issue a license to the receiver representing the minority ownership interest in Horse of the Year Curlin, clearing the way for the horse to start in Saturday's Man o' War at Belmont Park, the attorney for Curlin's majority owner said late Tuesday.
