![]() The placing judges at toga must have outstanding vision.
I still cant decipher the wire photos of the 2nd & 9th races. Maybe it goes back to the thought of 'nobody wins in a dead heat' since the owners split the winners share and lose the maiden condition, in the case of the 2nd race. I have seen races not as close as these 2 called heater alot. The Indiana Derby 2-3 years ago comes to mind, as one that wasnt that close that was a called a dead heat. |

In the second race yesterday at The Spa, our "syndicate" had the 6-7 exacta, straight, for $10. It was kind of exciting for the crowd to be waiting on the photo, but when it came up on the screen, I couldn't decipher it. I've got a copy of the famous triple dead heat photo from the 1944 Carter Handicap, and the photo from the 2nd at Saratoga yesterday couldn't have been more inscrutable to me. I'm glad it turned out as it did, though, because everyone went back to work happy.

![]() They certainly are close photos, but I can see grass and dirt between the losing horses nose and the finish line in races 2 and 9, respectively.
