Going to be another fun day at the Fairgrounds!!

A few of the races are a bit thin in entries, hopefully next month will be a bit better for Risen Star day as we will be over 30 days out from the EHV-1 problem.

Weather update, very wet yesterday and today, training thunderstorms...starting to clear tomorrow..Weds and Thurs very nice no rain, only 30% and 20% chance of rain for Friday and Saturday,(which is nothing here in NOLA in the wintertime, just sporadic showers) temps in the high 60's to low 70's.

I thought Au Moon ran a good race in the nightcap on the final day at Churchill. He didn't go particularly fast or earn a high BSF (75) but he showed marked improvement from his first start, rated beautifully and responded when asked down the stretch.

General query: Why do presumedly savvy trainers put their young horses in stakes race when all they have done is beat up on non-winners, without testing them against winners? I can understand early in the 2yo season because they don't write allowance and/or conditions races for 2yos in the first half of the year anymore. But there are plenty of "non-winner of one other than" races around for new 3yos just now. WHy run them in a stakes before you know that they can handle winners? Especially when "he didn't go particularly fast or earn a high [speed figure]."?

Graded stakes earnings.
