Default oscar's

i debated about putting this in contest's but really just wanted to post my own opinion of who i think should win versus who i think will will win.

someone else can run the contest.

supporting actress: didn't see ben button. can't judge that. viola davis is amazing in the short scene in doubt. but it barely reaches even a "supporting actress" roll. it's one scene. i'm a huge almodovar fan so i'll let my prejudice fly. penelope cruz in vicky christina barcelona.

supporting actor: didn't see revolutionary road. i think the sentimental favorite here is also a reasonable choice. i love that fact they nominated robert downey in a comedy (and he was incredible), but i'd give it to heath ledger. even if he was still alive.

actress: this is a great category with amazing nominee's and i'd be happy to see any of them win. but go see frozen river. she has no chance but i'd vote for melissa leo.

actor: i'll see the wrestler tomorrow. and i haven't seen either the visitor or ben button. so my opinion is basically sean penn or frank langella. and penn gives an amazing transformative performance. i'm a sucker for that. photographer beating alpha male as a soft spoken effeminent gay activist. i forgot he was sean penn. that's acting.

best picture: again, i didn't see ben button. i liked slumdog. and i love danny boyle. go rent trainspotting. but i don't get the nomination much less this as the sleeper for best picture. it featherweight. i'm torn between milk and frost/nixon but i'd go with frost/nixon only because i never imagined a film about 2 people talking to each other could be so riveting. plus it actually made me feel sympathetic toward nixon. that's an accomplishment that deserves some award.

just amazing. go see it if you're somewhere it's playing. otherwise, get in on the netfilx cue as soon as it comes out.

I think the guy from There Will Be Blood is a shoe-in to win. I especially liked the part where he beat the priest guy to death with a bowling pin at the end.

Sorry man. I know how you feel.

I thought 'Bring It On: All or Nothing was quite possibly the best movie I'd ever seen in my life ... but my 17yo brothers fiancee had to give away how Pacific Vista fouled up in the final cheer off VS Crenshaw Heights in front of Rihanna.

And yeah, the fact that I watched that movie from start to finish and didn't hate it is almost as sad as the fact that my 17yo brother is engaged.

I strongly DISAGREE about Ledger. I think it is the most overrated acting performance in recent memory.
But, I strongly AGREE about Melissa Leo in Frozen River. In my opinion it was the best acting performance of the year....man or woman.

Unfortunately, Ledger will probably win....and Leo - as you say - has no chance.

I never liked Melissa Leo on All My Children.

It's lame to speak up for the majority, but I thought Ledger was great, if only because he made an otherwise awful movie semi-watchable.

It isn't like I thought he was terrible. He did a perfectly acceptable job, but I don't understand why everybody is falling all over themselves about his performance.

Shockingly, The Dark Knight received consideration for a Best Pic nomination. I also thought it sucked ass.
