Default Good Jub Obama!

He gets one thing right at least!!! ... lifting restrictions on stem cell research. Great news!

Bush was an idiot for a lot of things, and restricting stem cell research was one of them.

but we can then raise the age at which you can start getting social security...and more paying in for a longer time, just think what that'll do to the budget.
well, it wouldn't do anything. the more the gov makes, the more it spends.

This is indeed terrific news. Bush was crazy, the political way he interfered in this. In my eyes, W. Bush is personally and morally responsible for delaying research into cures for diabetes, spinal cord injuries, etc., and breakthroughs in burn treatment, orthopaedics, organ transplantation, etc.

I read that FoxNews link, and of course that article goes off yapping on things that are not exactly true.

Here's a more objective link (run it all together if it breaks):

What exactly wasnt true in that link? A more objective link? No a more liberal papers link.

What isn't "exactly true" is the factual information the article avoids giving the readers (until a half-azzed way in the last sentence).

If FoxNews said the whole truth right up front, in the first paragraphs as they should, and stated it clearly, they couldn't then fill the body of the article with silly, imagination-based, politician fear-quotes.

Quote:
But the issue remains controversial since days-old embryos must be destroyed to obtain the cells.
These are embryos that have been already destroyed and are headed for the trash bin.

These embryos will hit the trash bin whether stem cell research exists or not.

No embryos are destroyed simply for stem-cell research.

This is a science emphasis article. Or should be.

FoxNews turns it into political fodder. Just like George W. did with the topic.

Such as this completely moronic and blatently scientifically ignorant statement from Rep. Eric Cantor?

Quote:
On Sunday, Rep. Eric Cantor, the No. 2 Republican in the House, said the White House should focus instead on the economy, not on the long-simmering and divisive debate over stem cells.

"Frankly, federal funding of embryonic stem cell research can bring on embryo harvesting, perhaps even human cloning that occurs," he said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union." "We don't want that. ... And certainly that is something that we ought to be talking about, but let's take care of business first. People are out of jobs."

The level of idiocy -- or intellecutal dishonesty stemming from political persuasion -- from embryonic stem cell research proponents is enormous on this point.

Scientists were forced in a good way to find other , maybe even better research with stem cells because the federal government didnt pay for embryonic research. Just because the federal government didnt pay for the research doesnt mean that there wasnt any happening , it just meant that instead of tax dollars paying for it , it was most ikely privately funded.

Do you think that the US Government should never fund science?

And I was agreeing with you . My father just had some stem cell treatment for his Multiple Myloma (there is no cure) he is in remission and there is no sign of the cancer, for now, they actually took stem cells from his own body and froze them and then re-entered them back into his body via his sternum after they zapped him down to nothing with radiation.

looks like the Barackovich Administration is going to keep campaigning against anything and everything Bush.

Don't believe that private businesses just needed government money to do something that would have been profitable. If they need subsidies then they're is no market
