![]() Baucus says the tax-free benefit packages Americans now enjoy are a big factor in the high costs of the country's healthcare system, because they provide workers free or low-cost access to too many healthcare services.
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., faces a hard sell. During Obama's campaign for president, he ruled out taxing employer-provided health benefits. and now? A Senate chairman who will have a major role in writing healthcare legislation said Tuesday he hopes to convince President Barack Obama that taxing some employer-provided benefits will help control escalating costs. Sounds like a textbook case of 'bait and switch'. What I'm interested in is the list of the 'many healthcare services' that are not needed.
