What a hoot. Now we are giving the Nobel Peace Prize to people based on aspirations instead of results?? Seriously?? Do they take the prize back if he decides to send more troops to Afghanistan?

when i heard the announcement i was half asleep, and thought perhaps i heard wrong. apparently it wasn't a joke-altho in a way, it is. so, he suddenly has to re-think his and our policy in afganistan, and basically has made his general there look like a fool...because of winning this? he must have been told that it was going to happen. i can't help but wonder now about the last few weeks and his sudden indecisiveness about what to do there. great, our foreign policy and decisions on troop strength are going to be decided because the president won a special award. |

Of course, traditionally it has been standard procedure that winners of the prize do their peacemaking first and are only given the prize after they have achieved something. But this innovation sweeps aside such old-fashioned notions of reward following effort. http://blogs.wsj.com/new-europe/2009...-what-so-fast/ Poland is stunned to see the Nobel Peace Prize given to U.S. President Barack Obama. You can always count on Poland’s outspoken ex-president and its best-know Nobel Prize laureate Lech Walesa to be undiplomatic: “Who? What? So Fast?” he said when reporters told him about the latest Obama win. |

Yaseer Arafat, an unrepentant terrorist has a Nobel peace prize
The IAEA and its head Mohamed Elbaradei got a Nobel in 2005. Since then both N.Korea and Iran have become on the cusp of having nuclear weapon ready enriched uranium. Al Gore got one. Have no idea why. Kofi Annan and the UN got one in 2001. I suppose they forgot the genocide in Rwanda and Bosnia on their watch. Jimmy Carter got one despite his hateful and inflamatory stance against Israel. The Nobel Peace prize has less creditability than the ESPY's. Riddick Bowe would toss his into the garbage like he did his heavyweight title belt. He would keep the money though. |

world give bush admin yet another big f u
new qualification for peace prize:
follow a disastrously inept and bullying admin into office. he gets to start his admin with america's foreign policy in tatters after 8 years of bush's neocon fumbling and it can't even be his top priority because the economic situation is actually worse. and now this. my friends on the right are correct in characterizing this particular award as a joke. he's done nothing deserving of it and all the nobel committee did by giving it to him is prove their critic's correct, diminish the stature of the award, and pile more unreasonable expectation's on already heavily burdened shoulder's. even i think this is going a bit far with the bush bashing. |
