Default Anybody still wanna compare Del Mar and Spa?

I know today's and tomorrow's cards at the Spa leave much to be desired but has anyone seen the cards at Del Mar this year. I used to love betting Del Mar but their cards this year can best be decribed as tragic. And thats putting it kindly. They are in sad shape out there. I don't care what the weather and scenery is like, when you become synomous with 10 claimers and 2YO maiden claiming races, you are in tough shape.

I was at Del Mar on Monday.. granted, it was a Monday card.. but it felt like I was watching the "Fair Circuit". They need to do something about their wacky claiming rules. I know they are there to protect the horsemen here from someone coming in and claiming their horses.. but it also prevents horsemen shipping in because it's not worth it to them.

Welcome to the Island of Southern California.

I dont even find it enjoyable to watch races from there anymore. Outside of this Sunday's Pac Classic, I dont have any races I look forward to there, and if it wasnt for Lava Man, I wouldnt have any interest in that either.

Pretty place, pathetic racing. Lately I put it on the same level as watching harness racing.

It's a shame, because the 3 of us had a good time that one afternoon last year betting Del Mar after they were done with Toga. We all caught TOUGH GAME that afternoon at a generous 7/2 if I remember right. Was he 5/2 or 7/2 Tim? and what ever happened to Tough Game anyways??

Tim...that was July 30 and he won at 5/2 going gate to wire and winning for fun. He raced again at Del Mar at the end of August in a claiming race...went off at 3-5 and won again. He was then shipped to Bay Meadows at the end of Sept. and raced in a claiming race up there going off at 1-2 and won again. Has not raced since then.

Yes he paid $7.80 that day, I had a couple hundred on him. Then he won again on Travers Day last year at Del Mar and I was tempted to throw 5 bills on him but I chickened out. Havent heard anything. Probably one of the police horses in Orange County. In fact I think I saw him on a recent epsiode of the OC.

Take a look at the cards that have been at Bay Meadows in Northern California if you want to see pitiful. They are lucky to get 5 horses in most races except maiden races.
