Default 1/6: AQU ($35k C/O); GP (5th-9th); SA (6th)

Opening Day at Gulfstream always provides a welcome addition to the winter racing landscape, and additionally Sunday provided some comic relief. Starting with a torturous rendition of the National Anthem by someone's niece, through the third race 'gate stuck on racetrack' hijinks, you can count on Hallandale to generate some snickering. Kidding aside, racing was good and nice full fields abound through the first cards being drawn. Had a square exotics and a couple P3's but missed the P4. Hope you did OK...

Aqueduct back with a quirky carryover card today, and I also looked at the 2nd half of the South Florida action. Santa Anita ALW race (6th at 6:36pm EST) has focus of Derby Trail watchers with Baffert returning The Program and Quiet Invader, and Kathy Walsh sending intriguing Hawaiian Springs back after notable debut score at HOL. Jon White's Arcadian P6 play is below for your consideration as well...

Today on ATR, the AQU 8th and 9th, GP 7th-9th and SA 5th-6th...

I didn't bet or look at the race carefully, but note now the nice work by Orlando Bocachica doing what needed to be done on One Brave Cat in the AQU 2nd... Drawn inside and was sent... which was the Eddie Lotruglio trainee's best hope. Got a clear lead; relaxed down the backstretch; responded again when asked at the top of the stretch; stayed on well last 150 yards to win at bonus price. I know he's never going to be a headliner, but I've always liked Bocachica.

taking a stab at the Santa Anita late pk 4.

5th - 2,3,6,7,8
6th - 5,6 (Personally think "The Program" is vastly overrated, and his 4th in the CashCall Futurity was due to the modest field and the pace. I could be wrong, but I don't like him at all).

7th - 3,11,12
8th - 9,12

$60 for $1
