Hmmm...I wondered why he went from roughly a 8% in 2006-2008 to over 30% in 2009.

Doug O'Neil hasn't missed this trick as he has become a regular at Beulah. It isnt hard to win races (especially at tracks where the competition is so feeble) if you are willing to lose a lot of money. Every trainer in America uses those meds. |

Jerry Hollendorfer is currently 43-for-85 at Portland Meadows current meet. His $2 ROI is just $1.96 ... which is way better than takeout ... but c'mon ... how the hell can you win over 50% of your races from that big of a sample and not be profitable?
It's Hollendorfer's 2nd season at Portland Meadows - at last years winter meet he struggled mightily to a 25-for-62 (40% wins) record .. his ROI was $1.63 .. which is about equal to takeout. That begs the question ... is it easier to win at Portland or Beulah? .. At the 2008 Beu meet ... Hollendorfer struggled badly .. winning just 8 of 30 starts (26% wins) with a terrible $0.74 ROI. |

I don't know but Hollendorfer had a horse at Portland on Monday I believe. It's last line read "pulled up lame" or something like that from a race like only 2 weeks before. Of course it won for fun.
