Default 4/15: AQU (3rd; Late P4); KEE (Late P4)

Fun start to the race week at Aqueduct Wednesday, though I kind of talked myself out of the P4 by reducing core play down to $30 after scratches. Considering the sequence's winners, $208 payout was OK if you incorpopratred the wider suggestions ($90) in the 7th which included Zito's Khalifa. Hope you did well.

The New York stewards, stung by criticism of their easy-way-out handling of Saturday's Comely incident, had their hand in the results of the first and last legs of the quad Wednesday. Taking down Mochachino and putting up Citizen Bailey in the nightcap was an easy call after the inquiry lamp was lit. In the 6th however, the stews appeared ready to accept the initial result until Gary Sciacca (The Vin Man) lodged a trainer's foul claim against Galaxy Express. The review of the tape made it abundantly clear that 7# bug Antonio Lopez, who is a hazard on a regular basis, had dangerously sawed off The Vin Man and Medjool, and came close to creating a chain reaction incident. The win continued Sciacca's hot spring which has seen his barn produce a 26/6-4-4 (23% W; 54% ITM; $2.67 ROI) over the past 30 days.

Aqueduct and Keeneland P4's today!

The headon shows that the 4 came in about as much as the 1 came out. Also, the 6 drifts wide when they enter, opening up a path for the 2; then decides to come in again, taking the 2's path around midstretch. Since 3 out of the 4 horses/jocks involved didn't keep straight paths in the stretch run, how about the NYRA stewards do the right thing and not take anyone down? (Or maybe take the 1 and 4 down; and the 6, if he'd finished ahead of the 2?)

If they really want to impress me that they're FINALLY going to regulate these races, how about taking Castellano down 1st time he herds this year. I find it interesting that the WO stewards SMACKED Javier when he tried his typically **** in that stake race, while he does whatever he wants in NY. Of course, the NYRA stewards make up for this with these type of calls. Unfortunately, some of us are a bit better than they are at watching races and all they do is continue to embarrass themselves.

Wanna see a really bad DQ? Watch the 9th from KEE today. The 12 mildly bumps the 9 in the stretch, after the 9 started backing up- the 12 ends up finishing 4th and the 9 finishes 5th. Trainer objection lodged (which NEVER end up resulting in a change)... they take the 12 down. Dreadful. I've seen horses get mugged in KY that they left up and they take this one down. To me it's all about consistency. If you really think the 9 was going to finish 4th then fine. But there was no chance of that happening and he didn't lose another spot. If you're going to call that, then call the other ones too.
