Super Bowls and Horses...
Perfect Together!
[IMG][/IMG] With the Super Bowl coming to the Meadowlands I think the N.J. horse racing industry will get a positive effect from it. This could create some new jobs and there will certainly be some improvements to the roads and other NJSEA facilities like the arena and race track. Maybe they can even revive that doomed Xanadu (now called Meadowlands) disaster. [IMG][/IMG] After all, they built the new stadium right next to the racetrack’s clubhouse turn and you could probably watch the races from the upper deck it’s so close. [IMG][/IMG] The greatest asset may be that people must walk past the track's main entrance to get to the stadium and maybe some creative marketer could cross promote the two venues. [IMG][/IMG]

Also...
[IMG][/IMG]
Our new Governor received a warm welcome down at Monmouth Park on Saturday. Maybe he is pro racing. [IMG][/IMG] As for the horse pics, those are my retired friends down on the farm. They served us well and are now Livin' La Vida Loca! [IMG][/IMG]

Rich, wishful thinking. But whenever there is football games the track is absolutely dark for the day. They need the parking spots for football. If you notice the Meadowlands will have an afternoon post for the next couple of days because Bon Jovi is officially opening the stadium. They just don't hold racing when something big is going on next door.
My guess if anything is that the track will be closed Super Bowl week in 2014. Just too much going on next door and in the complex, without the added people/traffic (not that it's much) going in and out of the track.

You know there are Giants and Jets players who visit the track. I also see alot of other football jerseys there too. There is a common element between football and horse racing. It's called gambling. In all the years i've gone to events at the meadowlands not once was I ever given a free admission, free voucher, program or any other enticement to go visit the track. How hard is it to give the people attending another event a free admission coupon to the track just to get them interested? How come I don't get a free pass to a car show when I visit the track? The other events aren't packing people in either. Besides, I like my idea better than no idea, which is what has been happening for years. You need someone who can think outside the box.

As far as the football fans go, getting out of that stadium can be brutal. And one day after a Giant game, I said the hell with sitting in the traffic. I figured I would go play some races until the traffic thinned out. That's when I realized that the track was dark on those days.

by the way the meadowlands admission is only 1$ now, so you are right that it's not the admission thats keeping them away.
