Default President Busy on Memorial Day W/E

why is it when an ally (S. Korea) gets attacked by and enemy (N. Korea) it's an internal affair yet when an ally (Isreal)makes a move (not attack) on an enemy (Palastine) Obama needs answers ASAP? I smell what he's been cooking for a long time. Hopefully the rest of America will smell the stink overtaking the traditional smell of Memorial Day brb-cues on bring out the stink spray soon!

BTW I saw muslims in the park this w/e that were praying to the north. Someone should come up with a prayer rug w/built-in compass and cd player.

I have a bigger problem with him not being at Arlington today. You are President for 4 yrs or 8yrs. Unless there is an emergency (not vacation) you show up and lay a wreath at Arlington. Very poor job.

He's a bigger horseracing fan than Sox fan (his favorite team) and unlike his inability to name a single player as a fav. for the Sox (instead saying he likes Cubs players too.) he quickly answered Mr. Ed and Flicka as his 2 favorite racehorses.

BTW he might be the only Sox fan who likes Cubs players in Chicago and that statement speaks volumes about this hope and change Pres.! Of course only Chicago people can pick up on it.

Dell, the fact that he doesn't know baseball doesn't bother me. The fact that is not in DC on Memorial Day sure as hell does. Coming from someone who's dad, 2 uncles, and one grandfather all served.

my point was Obama said he was a huge Sox fan, wore a Sox hat while throwing out the first pitch showing he's not a baseball player and yet couldn't come up with a single name. Carlos May would have been funny but at least a name. He's as camelian and political as they come.
The day Arlington hosted an event for the surviving medal of honor recipients still brings tears and chills as it did that day. No politicians were there The 40 or more that day in the winners circle, each were individualy introduced with a brief bio and applauded. They seemed to appreciate the overwhelming reception from the fans more than the fans appreciated them; it grew from there and became one of those unforgettable times in my life. Despite most in wheelchairs or using oxygen tanks they were a group of the most courageous, powerful men and you could FEEL it!

He has been a stink and an embarrassment to us Americans since he took the oath for Presindent. This is just another way of this @sshole disrespecting the military. He didnt mislead me with his BS while he was campaigning in 2008. Hopefully the American public will wake up in 2012 and not be mislead by this misleading sorry excuse for a President.

i guess both bushes and reagan were too busy as well? you guys are aware, aren't you, that every president in recent memory has not been at arlington nat'l on every memorial day during their term(s)? obama was at the cemetery in illinois where lincoln was put to rest (i've been there, as well as to the lincoln museum-highly recommend) but his speech was rained out. a sudden t'storm right when he was set to begin.

i'm no obama fan, but this criticism is ridiculous.

Bullshit. This is all of year 2. He should be there, especially after his oil spill handling.

Any notion that this cemetery is somehow more sacred than the others is not only absurd; it is on its face ahistorical. The idea that a president is required to lay a wreath there on Memorial Day also has no valid traditional basis. As recently as 1993, a U.S. president left office without having done so once. His name is George H.W. Bush, and his patriotism and his bravery in wartime are beyond question.

and exactly what does laying a wreath have to do with an oil spill? the 'obama can do no right' has gotten as old as the 'bush can do no right' claptrap.

I don't care about George Bush or any other Bush. They sucked. So what. This is the president today. That's where libs lose in this argument. We have 2 wars going on and 30k troops on the line in Korea.

Actually, I think he was at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery today which, oddly enough, is not where Lincoln is buried. The Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery is up here just southwest of Chicago, while Lincoln in buried in Springfield....which just happens to be my hometown as well.

I haven't been to Springfield's "Lincoln sites" in ages. We all hated them as kids because when you grow up in Springfield every damn field trip is to Lincoln's grave, or his house, or his older house, or his law office, blah, blah, blah.

But I've heard from a lot of non-Springfield people who agree with you that it is a pretty good tourist experience all-in-all....as mind-boggling as that may be to those of us who spent 18 years in the place.

oh, i see.

and i grew up near d.c.-so i took a lot of that for granted...could never understand why out of town visitors wanted to go there! i could have gotten a job as tour guide at the natural history museum, or air and space for that matter.

Yep.
Springfield is crazy. Within the last ten years they changed the name of their airport from "Capital Airport" to "Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport." Come on! I mean, I get that Lincoln is Springfield's only claim to fame (other than me of course) but is it really necessary to STILL be looking for things to name after the guy? Everything in the damn place already revolves around him and he's been dead for 145 years. The whole town is a little creepy if you ask me.
