What Private Schools Create?

Besides the people from Goldman and future policy wonks who lead the country the wrong way? Entitlement culture.

It was set up like a fantasy football league draft. The height, weight and performance statistics of the draftees were offered to decide who would make the cut and who would emerge as the No. 1 pick. But the players in this predatory game were not famous N.F.L. stars. They were unwitting girls about to start high school.

So you don't think it's parents that influence and "create" their children's actions and morals? You blame this on income level?

Income levels? No...Entitlement levels, absolutely. Plenty of rich people don't give their kids the idea that they are better than anyone else. This is a societal problem.

I agree feelings of entitlement is a societal problem. Although I disagree this article is about entitlement at all. I think it's about cold disregard for other human beings, specifically abuse of women.

I think you find feelings of entitlement, lack of ethics, morals, etc. at all income levels. The "entitlement" of receiving welfare, etc.

It was titled "what private schools create" and targeted Goldman, "future policy wonks" "lead(ers) of the country" - confusing as to what exactly you are complaining about. People in positions of power? Privilege? Wealth? are more likely to disrespect and abuse women?

Be confused then, I wrote it as is. The article speaks for itself, mind you the setting is right outside of D.C....People need to draw their own conclusions.

Doesn't the article more suggest that these boys are a group of disgusting boors rather than some endemic failure on the part of private schools to produce nice boys?

You could easily substitute the private school kids for NBA players who mostly come from ghetto schools and noone would think otherwise about private schools.

It is laughable that the school code was included in the story as the school has little to do with the behavior of the kids as does hormones and the way our society treats women in general.

Like girls at public schools are all treated as princesses...

Apples and oranges Chuck. No doubt the fact that kids from all economic levels go to the same public school (within reason) makes for a far less "group think" mentality of privelege than at a private school. The same reason that drugs are more of a problem at private schools than inner city ones.

LOL! Who fed you that one? Yeah i guess it depends on what you consider a problem. The inner city kid who becomes the dealer or the private school kid who can afford them?

Private schools are generally far smaller than public schools and usually geared towards some kind of ideological dogma, hence people from similar backgrounds. Last i checked the trench coat mafia was a public school issue, of course kids gunning down others isnt such a big deal really...
