Default When does the $1,000,000 a day start at MTH?

Just noticed that there's maybe $450,000 or so in purses at Monmouth today. $850,000 Saturday. $764,000 Sunday.

Have they had a day with a $1,000,000 in purses yet?

Sat they will be far in excess of 1 million since the 2 stakes are worth 1 million alone.

Ok.. That's nice. What's that have to do with my question? I capped MTH today and noticed that the purses were $400k+ which made me look at Sat/Sun.

Where's the $1,000,000 a day?

As a bettor, I don't care... I want large fields and Monmouth is providing that to me. Belmont offers very shorts fields.

You seem to be the only one complaining about it...

For what it's worth, I like fields in the mid-range . 7 or 8 .

Who the phuck is complaining? I'm asking about the purses because thouigh you may not know it, the winner's share has been greatly decreased from the usual 60% under the system that rewards participation and pays $1,500 to all runners. And if they in fact are going to load up purses for Haskell Week only, then the $1,000,000/day portion of the equation is something of a come on that is short-arming owners that win.

Are these owners complaining?

As far as the part about watering down the winner's share, I am pretty sure the reason for the $1500 to all runners is a way of rewarding the local owners/trainers who are "out-stocked" by the super trainers shipping in. All things considered, I think it's a great idea.

Short-arming owners that win??? you are kidding, right? $70-$80k for maidens, NW1X, and NW2X isn't short arming anyone even if $9000 comes off the top to the also-rans

I"ll venture to guess that the 1MM per day is over the 50 day meet. 50MM over 50 days is the way it was marketed, not 1MM per day. I could be wrong.

Ended up being 500K thanks to all of those $1,500 spruce ups to the horses who got their clock cleaned.

Just looking at the whole situation this way if you take the entire stakes book for the whole season the total amount of purses is around 12.5 million (give or take a little). THen take an average of 10 races a day (excluding Stakes) for a 50 day meet that means those races alone must average around 750k a day to reach the 50 million mark.

I think the slogan for a lot of bad tracks should be "at least we're not Presque Isle"

This from a general news opinion writer in todays paper ...

Quote:
Unbelievably, two $75,000 stakes races last Friday went off with just five horses in one field, and four in the other. Veteran racing fan Leo Kwiatkowski shook his head in disbelief as he examined the terrible betting odds in the chronically short fields, especially for the most lucrative races.

It's frustrating, but nothing compared to the lack of tables and chairs for fans, who apparently must bring their own chairs to avoid seeking out concrete steps or construction debris to lean on. One woman from Corry said she would gladly offer to pick up about 20 umbrella tables at Walmart to make the fan experience more tolerable.

Let's face it. For a facility that makes more than $1.5 million in clear profit on slot machines every week and is about to launch table games amid a $25 million expansion, coughing up a few tables for racing fans doesn't seem to be asking a whole lot.

The casino's treatment of racing fans should embarrass them. Obviously, it doesn't
