THURS - Arlington Park late PK4
Arlington Park
R6 – ILB Alw 33.5k N2X (Turf 8F) #8 Pi Bella – Should prove tough on the front end. 2ND #4 Jazz Odyssey – Too good of form to ignore. WON #6 Glory Belle – Her turf races put her in the mix with these. #1 Southern Wonder – Deep closer not out of the question. 3RD R7 – MSW 38k #4 Ssschille Day – Only needs a slight improvement in 2nd start. #10 Desert Alley – Long string of steady works bodes well for debut. #3 Catch the Train – Add blinkers after a non threatening 4th at 1st asking. #1 Sherriff Cogburn – Barn not known for having them ready early, but shows some nice works. WON R8 – OC 62k / N1X (Turf 8F) #6 Surely Irish – She could get brave on the lead and prove difficult to reel in. 2ND #1 Silent Candy – Coming off a convincing win and should be stalking throughout. #3 Lunar Mist – Top barn have extremely positive numbers when trying the turf. 4TH #4 Cave Creeker – Later runner might have too much to do late, but must be used underneath. WON R9 – Md 17.5k #1 Golden Aphrodite – Looks ready on the drop and nice 2nd in poly try on May 2nd. #4 Miss Pollipop – Stidham firster has been working consistently since April. 2ND #2 Talking Audrey – Tries the Poly after 6 turf tries and should be ready in 3rd start of the year. 3RD #3 Crescent Moon Lady – Top connections (FCC) would be an understatement and they know how to spot them correctly (Canani 50% for the meet 26 for 52). PK4 – 1 4 6 8 / 4 10 / 1 3 6 / 1 2 4 = $ 72 Good Racing

I'm a little surprised your not more fond of #1 Southern Wonder in the 6th. Faster than the rest, and should respond to class relief off the stake which probably was more than SW could handle with that yielding turf last time. If the course is firm today and the rail doesn't cause him early problems I am leaning toward a single here. I just don't think Pi Bella is fast enough for these. I don't remember Baze being one of those few turf jocks who can milk a front end like Kent or at times (gulp) Smith but your the Chicago guy. Has Baze been winning with front end types since he left So Cal? |

Thanks Doc,
SW has a good chance, but from the projected pace scenario she'd have to be much the best at low odds. Baze has been doing extremely well while mostly riding for top connections throughout the meet. He's been more than capable on the front end, especially on the grass. Good Luck today.
