It just keeps looking more and more amazing all the time
Not a single one of Borel's last five Kentucky Derby mounts have even given up a position at a single call in their running line in the Derby.
Borel's hopeless Ten Cents A Shine ran well enough to be somehow made 8/1 in the Preakness. 16-15-14-11-8 at the position calls: Obviously his next Derby mount Street Sense had his two big signature races at Churchill Downs. Winning the BC Juvie by 10 lengths at 15/1 odds under Borel and beating Hard Spun and Curlin in the Derby. 19-17-3-1-1 at the position calls: Mine That Bird got him his 2nd win in the race. 19-19-12-1-1 Denis Of Cork's 3rd and Super Saver's win remain the other two: Crazy. |

At CD, I believe. Elsewhere he is Samyn.

He's been a God at Churchill for the two years before he won his first Derby with Street Sense.
Winning the Grade 1 Stephen Foster on 91/1 Seek Gold was probably his greatest of many great miracles the last six or seven years in CD dirt routes. Zito basically gave Seek Gold away for peanuts to the incompetent Ron Moquett ... if anyone wants a laugh ... take a look at how terrible Ronny Mo is doing at Delaware this year. |

Mostly all of his big wins there come in races that fall apart.

I'd hardly say Street Sense race fell apart.

Somehow? Just take a look who was riding that horse in the preakness and there is your answer

What is this important? I didn't bother to look at all the running lines but:
Mine that Bird and Dennis of Cork were last for a good part of the race and picked up horses as the race fell apart. And they, along with Super Saver LOST GROUND for one call in the race. Clearly, losing a position is irrelevant/impossible in the case of the two that were LAST, and for Super Saver, losing ground between the 1st and 2nd call is as relevant as losing a position, since others were gaining that split. This points to how good a trip he got. |

Well - Bailey riding and Lukas training. Ten Cents a Shine looked more like 800/1 than 8/1.

Just like the 2001 Jim Dandy when Bailey won on Lukas trained Scorpion. 12-1 shot looked more like 50-1 plus.

I remember this thread. Is Borel on anything live?

Just a word of advice, I am looking long and hard at the mounts of 3 jocks: Borel, Albarado, and Leparoux.
