Hong Kong 2010 ~ 2011
It's heeeeere!!!!!
What better way to begin? The first of the 2010 / 2011 Hong Kong Raiders... The eagle (well Birdie) has landed. http://japanracing.jp/_news2010/100903.html * * * R2, Tom's Eighth / Divine Kid R3, Cerise Cherry R4, Such a nice field. Much as I love Dynamic Blitz (and Dream Team is a nice horse) I don't see how anyone can beat Lucky Nine here. R5. Western Star (the former Confucius Captain (IRE) ) hasn't won since coming to HK. 14 runs, hit the board only once but I think Chadwick, who worked him the other day, works his magic here). (G/l to Kimberely who is one of three girls in HK that i know of this season. Wonder if there are a couple more...). R6, Lombardi R7, Blaze King R8, Best Win (Castagnola) makes his HK debut, Doyle up. R9, Prebble gives Royal Pumpkin (the former infer) his 2nd HK win here. * * * Barrier trials... http://www.hkjc.com/english/press/btrs.asp Horses of note... Helene Witty, Win Practitioner and (I've been waiting to see) Irish Pearl (the former Ishka Baha and trained by O'Sullivan, he belongs to the owners of one of my favorites ever, Russian Pearl) in batch 2, Multibullish in 3, Winfinder wins batch 6, Sweet Santee wins batch 7 (no surprise!), Finn MacCool in batch 7 (2nd) and Gallopy (I love that name ) 3rd in 8). Entries for the 8th at Happy Valley include Windicator Returns, Silver Sun, Fluke, Best Military and Medic Fortune (somday he'll win one). |

R2, Tom's Eighth 3rd, Divine Kid 8th
R3, Cerise Cherry won R4, Lucky Nine won, Dream Team 3rd, Dynamic Blitz 4th R5, Kimberely 2nd, Western Star 4th R6, Lombardi 2nd R7, Blaze King 3rd R8, Best Win 3rd R9, got mixed up with R10 and didn't make a pick R10, Royal Pumpkin won Haven't watched every replay yet but is it really fair that Tattenhall Delight was considered astarter in R1 (TNP)? The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in whilst they considered if TATTENHALL DELIGHT had been afforded a fair start. Evidence was taken from Jockey B Doyle and Trainer T W Leung. After viewing the official videos, it was ascertained that as the start was effected, TATTENHALL DELIGHT reared of its own accord and got its head into the adjoining stall. After this, TATTENHALL DELIGHT stood in the barriers and took no part in the race. As the Stewards formed the opinion that TATTENHALL DELIGHT had not been afforded an unfair start, the horse was deemed to be a runner. Having in mind TATTENHALL DELIGHT previous record, the Stewards ruled that the horse must undergo satisfactorily a series of consecutive official barrier trials before being permitted to race again |

No picks for Wednesday at Happy Valley but best of luck to Regency Winner in R6 (same owners as Regency Horse. Chadwick got that one to win which was no easy task so maaaaybe).
G/l to Medic Fortune (R7) and Windicator Returns (R8) too. Retired... Sunny Golf. He just ran in this one on Sunday (hey first time I've ever seen a typo on the hkjc site. Not Sunny King)... http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...2010&raceno=04 Nice horse. Hope he's alright. He retires with a rating of 102. Barrier trials for 79 horses tomorrow (!). On Lucky Nine... http://racing.scmp.com/freeservice/n...s20100906a.asp |

Haven't followed this story (well not on here) but really too bad. He's a good jockey.
That's a loooong time. Apprentice Leung today pleaded guilty to a charge of having breached Hong Kong Jockey Club Rule of Racing 60(1) in that the sample supplied by him, as directed by the Stewards, at the Sha Tin racemeeting on 5 September 2010 had upon analysis shown the presence of ketamine and norketamine, a metabolite of ketamine. The Stewards decided in the circumstances of this case the appropriate penalty was for Apprentice Leung’s jockey’s licence to be suspended for a period to expire on 8 March 2011 on which day he may resume riding. The commencement of this suspension was back dated to 8 September 2010 on which day Apprentice Leung was stood down from riding by order of the Stewards. Horses of note in tomorrows barrrier trials... Bullish Win, Five Clubs. |

Forgot to mention this...
10 year old Magic Temple stunned everyone yesterday... huge upset. Anyway the cool part is that, for the 3rd year in a row, he's the first winner for Sean Woods. His race... http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...2010&raceno=08 This was his 106th start (athough I'm not quite sure thiat his 4 NZ starts are included here or not. His former name is Art Ruler). Tough old warrior. |

This is weird. Sleep Well (who I've talked about many times and who is the former AOB-trained Achill Island)... 23 starts before he finally gets a win (last race of last season) and has his first race of the season and wins again. Maybe something clicked? Hope they always give Marwing the mount on this one.
* * * VERY happy to see Win Practitioner get a win! http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...eno=8&venue=HV * * * Retired... Noble Choice. 8 year old from NZ (the former Nuke Time), he had yet to win/ Trained by Almond Lee... hope he gets to go somewhere nice. * * * Invinciblekindness from Tsui to Schultz. * * * Five Clubs 2nd in his barrier trail. http://www.hkjc.com/english/press/btrs.asp * * * Sacred Kingdom passed his vet exam the other day. (More on his thread). * * * Racing Saturday instead of Sunday. NICE field!
