Default Here we go again :(

I really am tired of hurricanes. I was hoping we would be spared for a year at least. I think I am getting depressed now.

It's called "The Midwest". But pick a state that has a nice track!

I have said this before....

California/West Coast....ZERO minutes notice for an earthquake.

Midwest....maybe 2-3 minutes notice for a tornado

East Coast....at least 4-5 days notice for a hurricane.

No question in my mind which I choose.

Yeah, but tornados go through a lot of unpopulated territory. Also, they are tiny compared to hurricanes. It's a fairly short season, and you can suss out the strips of land they generally plow through. You don't have to leave a 200 mile area but rather, just go to a basement. All in all, I think they are cheaper (time off, evacuation, pet boarding, generators etc. not needed) with a whole heck of a lot less chance of ever getting wrecked by one.

Edited to add, you actually get more like 20 minutes notice, as long as it is daytime.

Not the hurricane itself that bothers me. More the aftermath. No power, crazy drivers, etc... It is friggen hot in Florida right now. I don't know how long I can go without power or more or less how long my long haired German Shepard can go without power. I worry more about him than my husband or myself.

Fair point...but the destruction seen on the news that has been caused by tornados is enough to keep me out of the midwest. A home destroyed is a home destroyed, be it by hurrican or tornado....at least we have time to board up the house, windows, etc and have a chance to keep the damage to a minimum.

*on a more personal note....I refuse to live somewhere that far away from the ocean....just personal preference is all.

I am the same Kev. I want to be near the water. I know then this is the price I am going to have to pay to have that.

You will be alright in a tornado as long as you're not in a Trailer Park.

Or a school, or any other building. I don't know many structures built to withstand 200 MPH wins. It's not just trailer parks.

Problem is that I don't like cold weather. I am a picky woman.
