Default 7.4 Billion earmarked for 9/11 first responders

http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/09...illion-in-aid/

This should be an interesting debate. We are living in the times of no responsibility for your choices in life. Sorry for all the firefigters that were injured however to borrow a quote from a famous movie

"This is the business we chose."

this is how this usually goes....politicians: "remember our heros that go into harms way to preseve our freedom...blah....blah...blah...BS...BS"....... then when the vote comes down it does not pass....lol. then theres a million and one excuses why it did not.one guy points a finger at the guy on the other side...and nothing happens. yeah, keep trusting the two parties they are looking out for YOU !........they've only been getting away with this for decades and people are so stupid they still believe in one or the other...lol...lol

Maybe we could take away all the health care we give our military after they are discharged. After all, there's no draft. They chose to, for example, get both legs blown off in Afghanistan.

Ummm .... naw.

We are a society. If one doesn't want to enjoy the benefits of society, in exchange for the obligations, but rather would prefer a world of rugged individualists with zero societal obligations, it may be better to join up with the sociopaths.

Oh, wait. That would make "sociopaths" a societal group. They don't "do" groups.

This is too existential for me

So you make a point using something that everyone will feel strongly in support of. Unfortunately it has nothing whatsoever to do with THE point. Nice attempt at deflection. We are not taking away anything from the first responders. We are spending 7.4 Billion of of which we don't have... Societal Obligations is right. We have an obligation to our children and our childrens children to not let them live in a broke third world country. What's next ??? 5 Billion for families of Alaskan Crab fisherman who lost their lives at sea?

So what is YOUR "the" point? That we are not to spend any money, ever, on anything? That you're a strict social Darwinist? Either? Both? Neither?

Do first responders everywhere - fire, paramedic, police - a big favor. Tattoo across your forehead, "I believe in strict self-responsibility for my choices". Then, when they trip over your half-alive body after an accident or fire, they can just leave you to the responsibility for the result of your choice, and save someone else.

I see plenty of good things to spend our money on, and improving the lives of the people who protect us sure as hell is one.
