Asmussen sends best horses west Steve Asmussen has nine horses entered for the first three days of racing here at Fair Grounds. With 50 horses stabled in New Orleans and another string across the state at Delta Downs, Asmussen will be in plenty of action over the winter in New Orleans, but the composition of his stable will be different than in recent years, Asmussen said Monday. The trainer’s new satellite operation in Southern California opens in early December, and it’s there Asmussen will send his best horses for the winter. ![]() Asmussen's record is brutal on synthetic tracks - it makes sense for him to send many of his best horses to Santa Anita.

![]() I agree with that although he has faired OK at Woodbine this Year winning at 17% out of 255 starts. I was trying to find out the other day where his string at Woodbine was going for the Winter without any luck.

![]() As a welcoming gift, I suppose Doug O'Neill can take Assmussen to Fosselmans for some delicious "shakes."

Don't get me wrong, I like Woodbine. And while it is brutal there in the winter I like Woodbine all the way to closing day/night! Is Scott going to watch the SoCal colony for Steve? and who will be Steve's day-to-day jockey out there? |
