Default We need a "No Sail Zone" near Somalia

Anything that sails into that region gets sunk by our submarines, and then you'll see the piracy dry up.

It's a disgrace that four Americans who were 300 miles from Somalia got kidnapped and executed.

I hear what you are saying and it is a terrible shame but pragmatically speaking; who is going to pay for this escort service?

Oh, the companies shipping are already being escorted. Whether or to what extent they are paying I am not sure of. The Russian and Chinese navies are also escorting some of the traffic so there is a multinational task force escorting (some) shipping.

I saw this as a separate seek and destroy effort to actually make the pirates absorb heavy losses for their actions. It is even easier to sink ships in a region than to shoot aircraft out of the sky that is unauthorized in a "No Fly Zone" situation. The pirates would be outgunned and due to our military superiority, I expect almost no casualties on our side.

So you and I would be paying for this extra effort? Do we lose our right to bitch about Obama putting us further into debt by us funding this extra curricular Military activity? Or is the cost a drop in the bucket in the big picture? How many drops until the bucket runneth over?

Terrible thing that happened, but those are dangerous waters. The U.S. Navy, unfortunately, has more important things to do than escort pleasure boaters who know the risks associated with traveling in that area.

We'll just cut welfare to pay for it.

No we need a "Kill Pirates Zone" where we proactively annihilate these mofos.

I don't see the problem. Douchers lived life to the fullest so they could brag about doing something most people won't do. Unfortunately for them they'll never know why most people don't sail in dangerous places.

Thanks Darwin.
