UPDATES! 2yo's developing well..
Just off the phone with Woody Payne at the Ingleside Training in Virginia, and the reports on the 2 year olds are generally excellent.
MY PAL OF PALS (City Zip) & TOY CANNON (Thunder Gulch) continue to be the most forward of the 4 New York bred colts, with all physical development progressing without a hitch, and both virtually in full training mode. Woody says the pair look like adults compared to most of the other juvies around the farm, and they will almost certainly be the first to come north to Belmont to begin racetrack careers. SPONDULIX (Rockport Harbor) is next in terms of maturation, and is paused from full training for a couple of weeks having just undergone a growth spurt. Woody, who has a 3yo Rockport Harbor with Ferris Allen at Laurel, says our Rocky reminds him of that one a great deal, (recently 2nd in his debut), and expects him to fill out nicely with one more period of physical development yet to come. CORYBANT (Johannesburg) is the least developed of the group, maturing slowly and trailing the others in training. He will be 'late' as they say... We should have new photos of the boys in the next couple of weeks, and anyone planning to be through Virginia (Montpelier Station) should try andvisit the famed plantation. ("James Madison's Montpelier") And of course anyone interested in taking part in the 2011 Dee Tee colts should drop me an Email at tpkasept@yahoo.com for more information!

A little pedigree update today. My Pal of Pals' older half sister, Loyal Shadow, got through her NY bred 2 other than condition today winning the 7th at Belmont. She now has earnings of $120k. Filly is a hard trying tough as nails running SOB..let's hope little bro carries that on!

First 2YO to head north?
Heard Steve mention on Wed's show (Andy Serling segment) that "one of the 2YO's down in VA" would be heading north soon... I'm assuming that's Toy Cannon?
How cool would it be to get Jim Wynn (former MLB All-Star who played from 1963-1977, and nicknamed "Toy Cannon") to come to his namesake's first race? We should find out a way to get in touch with Mr. Wynn to let him know Dee Tee has a horse named after him! I just might check into that. Go Cuse! |

That's correct.. MY PAL OF PALS will come north directly to Saratoga rather than ship to Belmont and then a week or so later upstate. He will hopefully make a first career start during the meet.
TOY CANNON may come to Saratoga too to begin racetrack acclimation, but most likely won't debut until September at Belmont.

Nope. My Dad, my brother & I are new owners into Dee Tee (specifically, My Pal of Pals, so I was delighted to hear "Pal" is the one that might get a start at SAR).
We're all from Syracuse ("Where people in heaven go when they die") so by birthright, we are "Cuse Fans". Rick Kelly |

CORYBANT (Johannesburg) just went 3f in :37.1 the other day at Ingleside, his 4th work in 6 weeks after having to pause with shins. He's a different horse as a gelding and Woody is very pleased with him. Should get to New York by beginning of the year. Is likely a turf runner, so he could start a couple times in late winter to be ready for the grass when it comes back around next April.. SPONDULIX (Rockport Harbor) is being left alone to grow and remains targeted for Spring of next year.
