Aqueduct Wednesday
I love the 3-5 sequence. I'm going to try to beat MMM and Gallant Fields in the first leg, and Invocation and Raconteur in the last leg. MMM is not much faster then a handful of these and who knows how he will come back? Gallant Fields on paper is just so obvious that he is a slop freak. If its fast I want no part of him at all. Invocation has IMO never really run a good race. I don't want 2-1 on him with mediocre works showing. Raconteur is a total pig, that was brought to my attention over the summer. As for Raconteur I have to give Dougie Sal a shout out on this one. When he made his debut at Toga he told me he cant run at all, and get him right out of the trifecta. I have since beat him 3x all at short prices. Cashing on 1 bet or another every time. Back to this pick 3, I really think there is money to be made here and I hope someone jumps in on the discussion. I know a lot of you guys will be playing. I'm looking at only a pick 3 play. As of now my thoughts go like this.......
Race 3- Praetereo is a son of Giants Causeway that even I gave up on. Carl Domino has done an outstanding job with this horse. His last race was huge. The 3rd place finisher came back to crush an OK field earning a 105 beyer. There seems to be a good enough amount of early speed signed on and Praetereo figures to sit a good trip. At 10-1 morning line he wont be beating me, but hes only 1 of 3 Ill be using. Southern Ridge is nothing clever. He goes first time for Pletcher, he was running races at Monmouth for trainer John Forbes that could beat this field. If Todd moves him up at all he is a winner. His last 4 works are all super sharp. I have to hope they bet Gallant Fields and MMM, and Southern Ridge at the least does not go off the favorite. The other horse Ill be using is Mineswept. I would not argue with anyone who says he is just not good enough/fast enough to win this. He pretty much runs the same race every time, but that race makes him at least competitive. He has not run a bad race since Rudy took over, he draws the rail and has speed. He is not the speed of the speed, but that's also fine because he does not need the lead. At 8-1 ML he is a must use for me. Race 4- As of now I don't really have anything clever in the 4th. Its a race I want to get through. I would listen to anyone who has a clever idea in here. I also think a lot of these might turn out to be good down the road, potential key race? Sweet Zapper has run 2 good races to start her career and seems very logical. Wait Til Dawn had a good trip and did not have much run, but she is to obvious to leave off. She has every right to step up second time out for Pletcher. Party of Interest like Sweet Zapper has run very well in her last 2, I actually prefer her on top. Beautiful Affair ran like **** first out, but was bet like a winner. Its Chad Brown/Castellano going second out, and I don't want to get beat by her. Race 5- I like 3 horses here. But You Promised, Festive Spirit and News Pending. They feel like the right 3 to me, especially when you look at the ML. But You Promised is bred more for dirt and I think its obvious he ran on dirt because Shug wanted to run him and run him long. A turf prep going for a 9f dirt race going longer, makes sense to me. The last workout shows he is ready. Festive Spirit like But You Promised feels like a dirt horse who wants to go long. Look at the way these 2 are working compared to the favorite Invocation. They feel like the 2 horses going the right way. News Pendings last race was solid and Im not getting wired by anything Klervich. I would want him at that price over Invocation all day. Last edited by RockHardTen1985 : 11-07-2011 at 09:07 PM. |

3rd: I agree with you that now is the time to take a shot vs MMM but better include him in the P3. GF hasn't worked in 2 weeks so don't like him either.Sth R & Praetereo are the 2 I am going to include.
4th:Wait to Dawn hasn't worked for 2 weeks. Party of Interest only 1 work since raced. Think I will play the hot Mott & Sweet Zapper and the 6 which was a beaten fav in his first start 5th: I agree with you with the 1,3,8 but would also include the 7. 1st time dirt , blinkers:dam has 5 winners. 5,6,7/3,6/1,3,7,8 5,6,7/3/2,5 Last edited by ADJMK : 11-09-2011 at 12:04 PM. |

I took a look at R3 because it was the Race of the Day.
The race dynamics set up for the 7 Praeterio but I don't see his fast dirt race that makes him a contender here. MMM has fired twice before off of layoff lines, he will be tough here. I would go 5,6 and maybe cover the 1 incase he gets an easy lead. |

Im making a few changes. Im not using Chad Brown in the middle leg. Ill add the 11 in at 12-1ML w/ Ramon. In the last leg, I might leave off the Klervich horse and add in the 5. I noticed Steve picked him second and I took a better look, his race 2 back might win this. He gets a real jockey this time and is 10-1 on the ML.
