Default Baffert uncorked another one!

Bodemeister the Empire Maker colt just uncorked a maiden field in 1:34 2/5.

Huge maiden win! Empire Maker and the 2nd dam was a deep closing multiple Graded Stakes winning router by A. P. Indy out of a Roberto mare.

Pletcher and Baffert have the market almost cornered so far this winter. Just imagine if Alpha and Out of Bounds went to Dubai like they would have in winters past.

Sire made 8 total career starts. Dam made 4 total starts (all at 2, and all in stakes races), was scratched from the BC Juvenile Fillies for a throat issue, yet never started again. She's been retired since 2007 but I think this is her first foal.

Welter Weight better moved to the grass to get some relief.

I thought the Street Sense at AQU was impressive as well. . . crazy late run - granted, early pace was fairly quick. 89 Beyer. . .

That race got an 89? A bit surprised it was that high.

I almost wonder if that's a misprint, as if that is the fig, they completely broke the race out, and how does it match for the runners-up?

I see it in Formulator, and will look into it tomorrow, but without an explanation, it is either a misprint, or hard to understand at face value.

He sure got an education in his debut.

This Beyer has to be an error.

The race went 1:45.20 for 8f and 70 yards and got an 89. The NY Bred 3yo stakes race went 1:43.87 at the same distance and got an 81.

Look at how absurd the figures look for this race...

Ya looks like it. . . runner-up is pretty awful, but I was still visually impressed.

This Beyer should come back sensational for Bodemeister. It's got a very good shot to be as high as a 105 if they don't play games with it.

Three dirt routes at SA Today:

*Bodemeister wins by 9+ lengths over two of the most hyped up maidens of the meet by the press and on HRTV in race #3. 1:34.45

* All My Chips wins by 4+ lengths with a dream trip in a race where the Beyer par is a 78. All My Chips won with a 73 Beyer last out. 1:44.16 for 8.5 furlongs. The time is like 32 Beyer points slower than Bodemeister's race 30 minutes earlier.

* Tizpat wins at 12/1 in 1:38.52 -- it would be pretty hard to keep this race under a 60. The time is like 42 Beyer points slower than Bodemesiter's race.

Bodemesiter only ran an 82 Beyer in his career debut in Jan...but that was at 5.5 furlongs. The Empire Maker on the top and the A P. Indy/Roberto up close on the bottom combined with the easy loose early lead went a long way in explaining the explosion.

Only a 99 for the Bodemeister race with all of those mega hyped 2nd time starters.

The horse who won the next race went backwards 7 points off his last figure despite a perfect trip win at 5/1 odds.

The 12/1 third-time starter who won the days other route barely improved at all and the 2nd place went backwards significantly.

I tend to think 99 is too low as well.
