Horse Racing Wonderlic Test
This will test how well you can read common horse racing stuff and how well you can do common horse racing math...as well as how fast you can think under pressure.
Get a pen and paper. Give yourself five minutes to answer these six questions. See how many you can get correct in five minutes. Go. 1. Willyconker wins and pays $23.00 to win. 0.80-to-1 favorite Mr Commons finishes 2nd. The $2 exacta returns $48.00 True or false -- people who bet Willyconker to win could have had better than even money odds on Mr. Commons beating the remainder of the field for 2nd place in an exacta wager? 2. A Moss Pace Figure of 56 is equal to a Beyer figure of 0. A Moss Pace figure of 100 is equal to a Beyer figure of 120.12 Each Moss Pace figure point is equal to 2.73 Beyer Points. A Moss Pace figure of 72 equals a Beyer figure of what? A) 38.22 B) 43.68 C) 82.18 D) 91.44 3. Settle For Medal goes wire-to-wire in a 6.5 furlong race through fractions of 23.34 - 46.48 - 1:11.80 - and 1:18.53. How fast did he run his final 5/16ths of a mile? A. 6.73 seconds B. 32.05 seconds C. 55.19 seconds D. 23.34 seconds 4. Todd Pletcher had 137 first-time starters race in 2011. He won with 31 of them for a 22.6% win percentage. His $2 ROI with them was $1.52 If you bet $100 on every Pletcher first-time starter in 2011 how much money would you be up or down? A) Down $3,562 B) Down $7,124 C) Up $585 D) Down $3,288 5. Boldly wins the first leg of the pick 3 and pays $25.00 - Sing It Again wins the second leg and pays $10.00 - Tap'n My Toes wins the third leg and pays $60.00 What would the 3-race win parlay pay? Secret Circle races 3 wide on the first turn and 3 wide on the second turn and carries 122lbs. Optimizer races 1 wide on the first turn and 3 wide on the second turn and carries 115lbs. Secret Circle defeats Optimizer by 0.75 lengths going 8.5 furlongs. Secret Circle will receive a Sheets figure how much faster than Optimizer? Your wording on a couple of the questions was pretty poor.
For instance, in question #1, even though I think I understood what you were trying to ask, the way the question was worded, well, obviously $48 for $2 is greater than even money. #2. If a Moss pt is 2.73 Bsf pts, then rest assured, a 72 Moss would be much higher than 43ish. |

People who bet Willyconker to win recieved $23 for $2. If Mr. Commons was exactly even money odds to beat the remainder of the field for 2nd place ... the exacta would have paid exactly $46.00 |

Here is the question:
5. Boldly wins the first leg of the pick 3 and pays $25.00 - Sing It Again wins the second leg and pays $10.00 - Tap'n My Toes wins the third leg and pays $60.00 What would the 3-race win parlay pay? A.) $3,750 B) $15,000 C) $7,500 D) $95.00 If you bet $2 to win on Boldly you would get $25.00 If you bet that $25 to win on Sing It Again ... $25 on a 4/1 shot gets you back $125 If you bet $125 to win on Tap'n My Toes ... a $125 win bet on a horse who pays $60 gets you $3,750 Thus, the answer is A. |

This answer is 5.13 lengths because 0.75 + 2.00 + 2.38 = 5.13 0.75 lengths is the margin SC beat Optimizer by. 2 lengths is added because SC ran two paths wider than Opt on the turns. 2.38 lengths is added because SC carried 7 pounds more over 8.5 furlongs of ground. Basically sheet figures are a lot more simple to calculate than people think. |

A $1.52 ROI means a 24% loss on each dollar bet. 24% of $13,700 = $3,288 in the negative column. |
