Default R.I.P. Levon

One of my all time favorites. I LOVED this guy.

"Levon Helm, the drummer for The Band whose twangy vocals brought a poignancy and earthiness to songs like The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down and Up on Cripple Creek, died on Thursday at the age of 71 from cancer, his manager said. "

Sad loss. Loved The Band.

Default Oh man!

A very sad loss. I recall the Band in The Last Waltz, Levon in particular, talking about the great Memphis sound. The different types of music, blues, bluegrass, country all rolled together. Levon was asked what did you call it Levon said "Rock N Roll" with a smile on his face. Levon though a terrific singer, really loved most playing the drums and he did it very well. His talents were many, his contributions to the music world will be cherished for generations. RIP Levon. Thank you for all the great work.
