Default Not allowing others free speech

Two groups of political supporters, from different sides, face to face.

One man doesn't like what he's hearing. He gets angry, shove a water bottle, then a hankerchief, into the mouth of a protester on the other side. Says he did it because he wanted to protect the "free speech" of his side.

Suprisingly, he doesn't get the sh.i.a.t immediately beaten out of him for his battery.

Should he be arrested and charged? Yes or no.

77-year-old Romney Supporter Richard Brysac Silences Union Protester by emptying water in mouth, shoving handkerchief in mouth.

Quote:
At one point, one of the protesters, Al Neal of Canton, 25, who said he was a union worker and a member of Fight for Fair Economy Ohio, was confronted by Richard Brysac, 77, of Parma.

Brysac attempted to quiet the protester by emptying a bottle of water in Neal's mouth.

"He seemed thirsty, so I tried to shove the bottle in his mouth," Brysac said. "I thought it was wrong to interfere with [Pawlenty's] freedom of speech.

"I acted out of character and I apologize if I offended anyone."

When the bottle didn't work, Brysac pulled out his handkerchief and gagged Neal.

Neal removed the handkerchief and continued chanting with the other protesters until the group was escorted from the rally.

so some guy who is old as dirt put water and a hanky in someones mouth and this deserves a thread?

and its supposed to be indicative towards conservatives?

Should he be arrested? fucl< no. if we arrested everyone who got into an extremely minor physical or verbal altercation then this whole country should be in jail.

Should he apologize? of course, and I believe he did.

I'm going to start a new thread about some fights I've witnessed at Eagles vs Cowboys games. It was much more intense than the subject of this thread, and had just as much to do with Romney as this thread does.

Actually, the subject of the thread is "Not allowing others free speech", and you'll note that in the initial post, I didn't mention the political views of the person involved.

I only wanted comments on the violent behaviour.

You apparently couldn't hold an opinion on how physical current political discourse can get until you figured out which side to "cheer" for. You bring up a silly accusation of "indictment of conservatives" - I didn't.

And I'll guess that if you were at a political rally, if someone who thought differently from you came up and poured water in your mouth, then stuck a handkerchief in your mouth to shut you up, you'd take offense and find it excessive, too. I know I'd throw a punch at the guy for doing that to me, and definitely have his arrogant ass arrested. And that has nothing at all to do with who has what political views.

It has to do with legal free speech - and those idiots, like the subject man, that only allow people that match their beliefs to have it. It was wrong when the Rand Paul supporters stomped on the girl opposing Paul's views. It's wrong to physically assault those that hold different opinions than you do. It's wrong for anarchists to use Occupy protests to destroy property.

Watching you excuse such violence with anger and insult is telling. I'll remember that you don't think it's wrong for strangers to come up to you in public, and shove water and a hanky in your mouth to shut you up, if they don't like what you are saying.
