Default Obama on Romney - "He's a Bullsh1tter"

Executive editor Eric Bates told Obama that he had asked his six-year-old if there was anything she wanted him to say to the president … She said: 'Tell him: You can do it.'" Obama replied: "You know, kids have good instincts. They look at the other guy and say, 'Well, that's a bullshitter, I can tell'.

Agree completely, Zig. They are both classic bullsh1t artists. Just funny that the immediate hypocritical defense is "well, they were "talking privately", so that's different.

Never mind whatsoever that this "private" conversation was with the editor of Rolling Stone, either during or right after an interview - either way he knew his comments weren't off the record.... That makes me lol a little bit.

i wonder if cheney felt he was talking 'privately' when he told patrick leahy to go eff himself?? i think a lot of outrage was probably from people who can only dream of telling a politician something like that.

and when a reporter is involved, nothing, NOTHING is private or off the record.

I think that anybody talking privately to another person can use whatever words they want between themselves. Don't you?

If you are offended at that term used by a President in private, for gosh sakes please don't read up about Lyndon Johnson, John Kennedy, Richard Nixon or George W. when they met with Congress and their Cabinets!

Yes, of course. Except when they are talking privately to a roomful of rich donors at a fundraiser and the dems get hold of it and make political hay out of it for a month. That's different.

Adjective choice is one thing. Your outrage was over "classy" and the use of what is considered a profanity by many. Which is rather funny - I had no idea you were so against the use of those words. Especially considering the completely foul, foul mouths that have historically inhabited the Oval Office and environs.

Romney-Ryan was just rated by Politifact (or FactCheck, I forget which) as speaking over 50% lies. Romney is a bullshitter!

Whole concepts relating that you think 47% of your fellow citizens "will never take responsibility for their lives" and are freeloaders is hardly the same thing - and it ends your presidential hopes. And rightly so.

Yes because a standing US president calling his opponent a bullshitter is a classy thing to do, especially when it's reported by international media. Right. And feel free to redefine your point that "talking privately" only means what you want it to mean, when it suits your agenda.

Obama didn't say, "Go fu.ck yourself", like Dick Cheney did in public on the Senate Floor.

Obama didn't say, "There's that major-league ******* from the NY Times" as President George W Bush did in public at a campaign rally.

Obama didn't say, "Dan Rather is a bastard" as President George HW Bush did in public at a press conference.

Romney was in a private campaign dinner where cell phones are physically removed from the attendees, and they are told recording is forbidden. Obama was talking in private to the press (which isn't private).

Your outrage at Obama using the term "bullshi.tter" pretty funny, considering that Obama is considered by all around him to surprisingly be pretty profanity-free and polite, especially compared to George W (who had one hell of a potty mouth, all the time). And that doesn't even approach Lyndon Johnson, who talked profanity to the press all the time.

it really is lightweight compared to past chatter between candidates. of course any talk pales in comparison to canings, duals, guns being pulled on political opponents in House session. so tame these days.
