Default Astros keep coming

Suddenly their far fetched dream of making the playoffs isnt all that much of a longshot. They still have to win 3 this weekend and hop that the Cardinals lose 1. That would force the Cards to have to beat SF on Monday to set up a one game play in between the Cards and Astros. Looking very much like its going to happen.

I still don't think so.
Braves will try to knock out the Stros in Atlanta, and Cards are home against the Brewers. I like the cards to sweep the brewers out, and Houston to lose at least one in Atlanta.
Phillies are dead. Dodgers and Pads both go.
Looks like Cali gets three playoff teams, Ny gets two.

Not sure how you can possibly think the Cards are capable of sweeping any team right now, much less a team that walloped them last night.

Houston losing at least one in Atlanta is a definite possibility. But I think equally as probable is the Brewers taking 2 of 3 from the Cards.

We shall see. I know one thing...every team in the post season is rooting for the Cards to limp on in. Nobody wants to face the Astros top 3 right now.

Oracle, you do realize Jeff Weaver is starting tonight for the Cards? You still like them to sweep? Hes been known to combust in big games and his 7-14 record with 5.79 ERA isnt going to scare a team like the Brewers who have nothing to lose.

On the flip side, it should be a great game in Atlanta tonight and the best thing about it is it will be on TV. Clemens goes and he has been red hot.
Atlanta's best pitcher Chuck Jones is on the mound.

To Atlanta, this is like a playoff series. This is the first time since 1990 that they haven't gone to the playoffs. All they have left to play for is to knock out the Stros, who have been a playoff rival in the past.
Of all the teams with losing records for the Stros to play, this is probably the last one they'd wanna play.
Cardinals are home, and they are playing a very bad team who is playing for absolutely nothing.
Looks like the Mets will open against the Pads or Dodgers(I'm still thinking Pad's) and the other team faces either Houston or St Louis.
I don't have the foggiest notion of who will emerge from that league, not even a clue. Pedro being completely out hurts the Mets. He can't even be used in relief.
AL is interesting only in seeing who plays the Yanks in the first round. Anybody know who wins the tiebreak between Tigers and twins? WHo won this years series between them?

Tigers...I'm really hoping for a collapse so PSU doesn't get a bye week before Michigan but that'll only happen with a collapse by Detroit.

I agree Gales. I have very little doubt the Cardinals lose tonight. I like the Astro's chances to win tonight but I am not as confident in their chances of winning as I am the Cardinals losing with Weaver pitching.

Honestly, I don't give a sht.I only am following it because Gander seems interested in Houston. I don't care which one gets in.I guess I should be against the Cards(since they feasted on the Dodgers this year.)I guess the best thing for the DODGERS WOULD BE TO GET PUJOLS OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS.I am not telling Gander what I want to happen.I am just telling him what I think will happen.Fact is that the Astros will probably win 2(or less) this weekend. The Cards will probably win 1(or more) this weekend. This would mean that the Cards play that make up game.I don't think Houston sweeps Atlanta, and I don't think the Cards lose all 4 (already lost 1) to Milwaukee.I give Houston a better chance at sweeping than I do the Cards losing all 4 to Milwaukee. If Milwaukee just came in to town,I would give them a better chance of sweeping. It is hard to take all 4.The Dodgers needed to do that in '80.I went to the 4th one(the one day playoff for the division.)The Dodgers had won the last 3 games of the season at Dodger Stadium.Just needed to beat the Stros 1 more time.I was able to get good box seats between home and 1st.I will never forget that day.Up to that point, that day was the worst day of my life.I had seen the frustration of '74,'77,'78,and then '80.Fernando had just been called up.We had seen him pitch very little.I remember everybody wished we had started Fernando that day.I have tried to forget who started that game for us.I think his name was Grohl or something like that.We had signed him after he had a good year in '79.Whoever it was, they never pitched good after that day.Seems like he had pitched good for MINNESOTA,BUT IT MUST HAVE BEEN SOMEBODY ELSE.MAYBE BALTIMORE.Anyways,I regress.Fernando saved us in the 3rd game of the 81 series, and we finally had a Championship from the Garvey-Cey-Lopes-Russell group that I grew up with.Point is that it is hard to beat the same team on 4 consecutive days.

My most realistic prediction: Houston wins 2 of 3, Cardinals lose 2 of 3. Cardinals beat the Giants on Monday and the Astros beat the Cardinals on Tuesday to earn a birth to the playoffs.

I am not a Houston fan, I just am marveled by this comeback/collapse. How can you not as a baseball fan? I was going to make a future bet on the Cardinals to win the WS just 10 days ago. Now look whats going on.

My team (I only have 1) is out of the postseason but I will still enjoy the games as much as if they were in it. I love the sport. Out of all the teams left I will pull hardest for the Dodgers.

To anybody except for a Card fan, how could you not be thrilled by this late season comeback? I mean, what else were you going to follow this weekend, the Hawthrone Gold Cup, LOL! ?

Now we actually have a couple series to follow. This is awesome. I am thoroughly enjoying the Cards demise!
