Default Travers Day - anybody going as a day trip?

Considering making the drive to Saratoga on August 24th, and I live about 3 hours away. I won't need a hotel, but since I've never been there and knowing what a huge draw the Travers is, was hoping for some info from the veterans.

I have questions like:

Does it sell out, ticketwise, or will I be able to get in regardless of how crowded it is?

How's the parking situation - remote lot is fine as long as I know where it is.

Get there early as traffic can be a beast

You will be able to get in

Park in one of the private lots (like the ones where people have you park on their lawn). It maybe be a bit more expensive - but more convenient.

Be prepared for a traffic mess when you leave.

Look for me there and say hello - I'll be the one with a Racing Form

I am going for the weekend, but have done the day trip many times from philly. It is not a bad trip about 4 hours. Try and get there early.

When you get off the exit there will be signs directing you to the free lot near the training track. Alternatively, if you get there early enough you can park along 5th street or any of the side streets (personal preference). It is really easy to get back to the highway from that location, just make sure you go towards Henning Road and not East Ave. There will be police directing traffic for the turn off of Henning/Union.

If you don't mind standing and can't find tickets, I find it is easier to view the races up in the stands in the Clubhouse behind the boxes rather than on the apron. Definitely a lot harder to get to the paddock on that day.
