Default Arc upset

Deep Impact finishes best of the 'Big THree', but he is only third (by a length or so). 3yo Rail Link and mare Pride run him down in the last yards. Without a race since June, could he have been a touch short? Same thing as Heart's Cry at Ascot - looked all over a winner only to flatten in the final yards.

In fairness to Deep Impact he was much closer to the pace than he prefers as the connections were obviously overly concerned with the lack of pace. I guess considering where Pride came from they were mistaken in their tactics.

Hurricane Run finished fourth. No room to run. Shirocco is still running.

I wonder if the 'Big three' weren't paying too much attention to one another and not enough to the others in the race? It may be that Take had instructions to stay close to Hurricane Run, since that was the one they feared. Won the battle, lost the war. (That's how Jim Dandy won the Travers in 1930 - Gallant Fox and Whichone's jockeys were so concerned about watching each other, they didn't pay any attention to the longshot.)

Damn, Check this out.

I go to the track to make some bets thinking a Deep Impact/Rail Link Ex
So put down 50 Ex on that and was going to throw down 200 win on Deep Impact but changed my mind when I see him at 1/5. so put down some tri bets(none with Pride). Right as I leave I put down a small 10 Place bet on Rail Link

STUPID ME!!! Never thought in million years he would be all of the Big three

I hate horse racing

Rail Link was near 15-1 in the States and 25-1 in Europe.

Deep Impact had run off a long layoff before. I don't think that's an excuse. Not that running 3rd beaten less than a length in this race needs an excuse. That's still one of the finest horses in the world.

I had a whopping $5 win on both Rail Link and Shirocco so I had the field surrounded. Boxed 4 horses in the exacta, ignoring Deep Impact, and still managed to miss Pride in the 2nd spot.

I was amazed to see Deep Impact open at 1/10. That was crazy. Tabor all week was fearing Rail Link. Three year olds have performed very well in the ARC over the past few years. Deep Impact performed better than I thought but he still doesnt compare to was Europe has to offer. I wonder if Shirrocco will even come over to the US for any Breeders Cup race. The connections cannot be happy about his performace. Hurrican Run had an opening but was unable to accelerate through the opening like he did last year so he has zero excuse. I wonder if Hurrican Run will now come over. I also wonder if Rail Link will come over. If I was the connections of Rail Link I would not come over. If Shirrocco and Hurrican Run are healthy and I owened them I was send on over for some redemption.

Connections of Rail Link are thinking of putting him away for the rest of the year. I'm hoping Pride comes over for the Filly and Mare B.C..

The plan for Pride has been the Arc, the Japan Cup, and Hong Kong in December.

I'd not come over with any of them. I'd head to the Japan Cup.
