Default outrageous sentence!

http://news.msn.com/videos/?ap=True&...3-4af41dbfaa10

teen kills four, injures two others.
his defense team argued that he didn't know better, because he was spoiled by his parents.
watch the video to see how the fine state of texas decided to teach him that actions have consequences.

i really think sentencing should be done by a group of people who are only given the facts of the case, but never see the person being sentenced, don't know what they're worth, who they are, where they're from. you'd probably get more fair, sensible sentencing with no bias.

That case being rightly juxtaposed with that of the Virginia 15yo who robbed a party at gunpoint with 2 others and received what amounts to a life sentence: http://hamptonroads.com/blount

or when zimmerman walked, and another lady got 20 years for just firing a gun, which she said she did to try to get her abusive husband away from her.

i really think we should have sentencing done separately, with only facts of the case. no idea of sex of the perpetrator, and certainly not race. the sentencing disparities are beyond ridiculous. justice must be colorblind, not just blind.

It will make you viscerally angry about the War on Drugs and how it's been used to confiscate the personal property of innocent people.

dan, you might take a look at this one..‘The Unwinding,’ by George Packer.
Packer was a guest on Colbert last nite..book about the struggling masses.

Quote:
Packer is a staff writer for The New Yorker who produced some of the finest journalism about the Iraq war (including an outstanding book called “The Assassin’s Gate”).
DAVID BROOKS review below link..he had some issues with it.

Also catch last nite's Stewart show, continues his Fox 'war on christmas' bit
