Default Presidency "over" -- all but the shouting

http://washingtonexaminer.com/about-...rticle/2549878

Excerpt:

"This poll is a disaster for the president," Todd said. "You look at the presidency here: Lowest job rating, tied for the lowest; lowest on foreign policy. His administration is seen as less competent than the Bush administration, post-Katrina."

"On the issue of do you believe he can still lead? A majority believe no. Essentially the public is saying your presidency is over," Todd added.

You're missing the point.

Someone JDB had never previously heard of agreed with him.

It was TOTALLY worth a new thread.

Worth a new thread, but clearly too much work to go to the original source (it was an NBC/WSJ poll). WSJ is behind a paywall, but the headline says:

"Poll Shows Erosion in President's Support
Only 37% Back Obama's Handling of Foreign Policy, but Respondents Side With Him on Climate Change and Education"

Oh... Respondents side with him on some things... that's not nearly as dramatic as the Examiner's headline!

And, the highlight from the NBC article on their poll:

"Yet while Obama is unpopular in the poll, he looks like the homecoming king compared with the Republican Party."

NBC article on the poll:

For some perspective, here's a Gallup page with a look at the approval ratings of the post WW2 Presidents, averaged together, first term vs. second term, highs, lows and as a graph. It's fun trivia:

Yes; most people agree with educating children, and that Climate Change is real.

It's quite a stretch to claim some sort of pathetic victory on.

{JUST IN} The number of Respondents siding with him on "the sky being blue" are of the charts! Alert John Stewart! Fire up the spin machine!

For the record, Romney would be exactly the same. But you know that.

I'm pointing out that the survey hardly shows what the Examiner claims; it's just a typical survey with not unusual polling numbers for this point in a two-term President's administration.

And actually, no, Americans have been remarkably resistant to accepting the reality of Climate Change:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/167960/am...aggerated.aspx

Which is bad and continues to be bad. If this were Game of Thrones, Iraq/Bengazi/etc. is the War of the Five Kings while Climate Change is the White Walkers bearing down on all of Westeros. We have no sense of what our actual serious problems are.

Actually, according to a Pew Research poll slightly more than half of Americans do not believe in man-made global warming:
