Default Saratoga Monday Aug. 18

EDIT: Updated after SCRs took out some of my key picks...

Not a great card, but hopefully I didn’t use all my winners yesterday! With the meet winding down, a good profit in hand, and some very beatable chalk, I’m investing deep in the multis today. With my luck there won't be a double digit winner on the card. I’m not a big Pick Six player but I’ll take a smallish stab at the carryover.

Race 2:
Is this August or December? Talk about a bad race. ALL costs too much...

Race 3:
#7 Boss Magician: Street Boss FTS with Irad up. Looks to have shipped well. Trombetta nearly got the breakthrough in Sunday’s nightcap, although he probably should have through DQ regardless. He’ll get it here, and at a price.
#6 Battle Red: Kitten’s Joy foal sees turf for the first time. Pletcher great with these 2yo dirt to turf switches.
#2 Louisiana Brown: LA-bred has been run down by two promising prospects. Turf should be no issue.
#3 Cyclogenisis: May foal may be the best of the bunch, but Weaver doesn’t usually have them cranked this young and early. Does have Lasix though.

Race 4:
#4 Precious Franca: Like the switch to a senior jock off the claim. Stretches back to 7f where she’s most effective.
#1 Bobby Jo: Rudy and Irad look for the quick repeat.
#2 Rosie My Way: Wide trip last. This is her chance today. Don’t know if she’ll take it.

Race 5:
#10 Coviello is SCR...
#9 Boss Man: Faces much easier on the drop down, but he’s had his chances in the past. Race’s lack of pace helps, but he may not be brave enough.
#7 Strueves Star: Debut aside, turf runs haven’t been that bad. Serpe runner will improve 2nd off a brief freshening.
#4 Are We Not Men: Two quick works for the drop down. Owner either wants a Spa win, or is trying to entice a claim. Could go either way. Safest to include.
#11 Global Slowdown: Dynaformer. Decent turf works back in March.

Race 6:
Tough race.
#3 Corporate Culture: Couldn’t close into those fractions last time. Primed for a return to form from before that.
#2 Wild About Irene is SCR...
#7 Strike Charmer: Improving 4yo. Blinkers should help her run straight today. Mile may be too sharp.
#8 Lonesome Town: Blinkers experiment failed. Very game two back to hold second.
#6 Three Hearts: Needed the run off the year layoff. May be waiting for the extra eighth next time.

Race 7:
Another crapshoot. Another ALL to start a sequence. Using #5 in the P6.

Race 8:
#2 St. Albans Boy: Has had excuses in losses this year. Will excel at the distance. Don’t discount.
#10 Side Road: Nine straight works for the return. McLaughlin has him ready.
#1 Red Vine: Camera shy. Won with favourable trips. Susceptible to bounce off career best Beyer on wet.
Distance concerns for #’s 3, 5, 9.

Race 9:
#4 South Andros: Has flourished back on dirt. Giving 7 lbs in last and couldn’t catch winner who repeated in a G2. Brief freshening for a dangerous barn. The X-Man for the upset.
#1 Endless Chatter: Returned to beat up two weaker fields at Parx. This is tougher, but Chad knows how to win in this spot.
#5 Natalie Victoria: Not one I want to use, but always be cautious with Nevin.

Race 10:
#9 Tree Fire: Bred for turf, and ran huge trying the surface when back in eight days. Switch to Rocco is huge. Don’t like that he hasn’t been seen in nearly two weeks, but he will be a bomb in a crapshoot of a race with bad favourites.
#10 Better Man: Quick breeze off the barn switch. Rosario can put him in a perfect spot.
#11 Pilatus didn't draw in...
#6 Loves Last Chance: Not far behind Gala Award three back and needed his last.
#1 is Reiff...#4 is first time Pletcher but in for a tag off a sketchy worktab…#5 250k purchase in for a tag off a huge effort…#7 bled through Lasix last time and in for a tag now…

Race 5: 4, 7, 9

Thanks Tony. Had 9 written down for the multis but made the typo for in race.

Tremendous job Kitan. I believe that is the 3rd boxcar P4 that you have posted here in the past 2 weeks. Can't get much better than that.

Thanks guys. Breeding becomes so crucial at these elongated distances and he showed he was an improving type. Won't mind a few more of these in the last fortnight of the meet!

Would never do that Kitan, it would be my money at risk and my decision not your fault. Good luck today. your right....not the most exciting card of the meet but hey the money they pay for these races is just as green as the money they pay for the Travers.
