Default Two men freed for murder they didn't commit

... in 1983

One of them was on death row for much of that time.

i saw the story late yesterday evening...
also, tony and i watched a show the other day about a crime scene investigator who planted evidence in two separate investigations. also had a story about a coerced confession. glad tony saw it-that way he has corroboration to go along with me telling him stories like this.
so sad those two guys spent so much time in jail--and it's shocking to me that a similar attack and murder occurred within the month of the one they were accused of committing, and no one thought 'hey?'??

imo, i think some of the police are similar to abramoff, the lobbyist. they just know they're right, just like he knew he was ethical. therefore, whatever he did in his opinion was ethical.
the investigator-he said he did nothing wrong, that he would never try to frame an innocent man...but that was is problem, he knew they were guilty-and he was going to make sure the evidence fit.

Kudos to the DA office for safe keeping a cigarette butt for over 20 years in a manner DNA was still able to be obtained.

You mean, kudos for doing the absolute minimum their job? Good grief.

You must be so proud of local law enforcement for all the backlogged rape DNA kits that haven't been tested yet, either. Hey, what a good job they're doing, keeping those stored away!

It took Brown 23 years to request a test?

And McCollum who allegedly has the mental age of a 9-year old 'wants to find a wife, raise a family, and start a business.'

Doesn't sound like the plans of your typical 9-year old?

http://news.msn.com/crime-justice/pr...okla-execution

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The intravenous line inserted into the groin of an Oklahoma inmate who writhed and groaned before dying 43 minutes after his execution began was not properly monitored, according to a state review released Thursday, which also recommended more training for prison officials and medical personnel.

no, instead of more training, just stop the damned executions.
so many people have zero, or near zero faith in our government and it's abilities to do things properly-so, why would anyone trust they are suddenly competent when it comes to the death penalty?
how many prisoners, on death row or not, have been found to have been innocent all along?

Lockett shot Neiman twice with a sawed-off shotgun and watched two other men bury her alive, he confessed.

His menacing wasn't done there, he even wrote a letter from jail threatening one of the witnesses saying 'cause I'm an assassin - point blank!'

Residents of Perry acknowledge that he did suffer – but not nearly as much as Neiman.

‘Stephanie was beat up, she was shot, she was thrown in a grave when she was still alive,’ Macias added.

‘His little 30 minutes of lying there in anguish, if he was even feeling any anguish for 30 minutes does not compare at all to anything Stephanie went through or her family.’
