Default Breeders Cup 2006 Dream Lineup

The probable retirement of Bernadini and rash of injuries to top horses over the past year got me thinking about what kind of race we "could" have in 3 weeks. The two rules I used was that in a perfect racing world:

1) Horses never were injured or sick
2) Trainers/Owners would never consider retiring a horse until after their
4-year old season
.

If this were true, here's a guess of what kind of race we could have in this year's cup. Post time odds and jockey's are just wild guesses.
How in the world would you begin to handicap a field like this?

Listed in order of M/L odds:

1) Bernardini 9-5 Castellano
2) Barbaro 2-1 Prado
3) Afleet Alex 7-2 Rose
4) Electricutionist 5-1 J. Velasquez
5) Invasor 7-1 Gomez
6) Lava Man 8-1 Nakatani
7) Stevie Wonderboy 10-1 Espinoza
8) Brass Hat 12-1 Borel
9) Buzzards Bay 20-1 Bejarano
10 Perfect Drift 20-1 Leparaoux
11 Jazil 30-1 Jara
12 Lawyer Ron 40-1 McKee

If your dreams include horses like Jazil, Lawyer Ron, Perfect Drift, Buzzard's Bay, and Stevie Wonderboy.........u should probably never go to sleep.

While I would include Jazil and Stevie that was pretty darn funny.

I'm guessing the poster meant in a route not a sprint. First Samurai can't route any better than I can.

Screw just including four year olds. If you want to dream then let's dream about a racing world where the most money is made on the track rather than the shed and no one gets retired until they get injured or can no longer compete at the top level. Then we'll tack on that no one gets injured:

How about:
Ghostzapper
Roses In May
Saint Liam
Smarty Jones
Rock Hard Ten
Lava Man
Afleet Alex
Bernardini
Barbaro
Electrocutionist
Invasor
David Junior

Now that would be a horse race.

If you ever see a field like that...then you will know for sure...you're dead.

I didn't mean dream by "what I wish for".
I just meant that those 12 are all logical going by what transpired over the past year.

And Obviously Ghostzapper could be included, but I wouldn't expect him to be running at age 6. the only horses I included 5 or older would be geldings.

I know. I was just giving u a hard time. I would include Brother Derek, Strong Contender, or Showing Up before I would include Jazil or Lawyer Ron.
