![]() Hi folks,
Perhaps someone could help me with a couple equipment questions: Is there a particular jockey helmet manufacturer that dominates that share of that market? (i.e. like Riddell dominates the football helmet market) Do the jockeys get to choose their own helmets, or are they just assigned in the tack room with the proper colors mounted? Thanks! Otis

![]() I am pretty sure that jockeys use "helmet covers" to change the color of the helmet and all jockeys have a large selection of covers that fit their helmet. LAS and Charles Owens are the popular brands, among others

![]() Speaking of jockey helmets, just saw this post of Facebook. Another reminder of the dangers of this occupation. Wow, is my reaction for sure

Thanks for those that replied. Much appreciated. I am working on a business project that may ultimately involve jockey helmets and would like to approach the company(s) that the top jocks use. Surprised to see how much these helmets cost. My wife is CFO/COO at Riddell and they sell their most advanced football helmets with impact-sensor technology to schools for a relatively cheap $150. The difference is probably down to economies of scale, although football helmets are seemingly more difficult to customize (they must be painted in team colors rather than putting a cloth over the top). Cheers, Otis
