Steve - Disagree
Steve, I disagree with "These types of public interchanges are kind of exclusionary and tend to make visitors that don't yet know "GPK, Hooves, Scav, Oracle, S2S, etc" feel like they're outsiders.. I'd prefer we not give that impression..."
While I will respect your opinion on this because this is your house, hear me out. Message boards are based on relationships and a perfect example of that is the LDK thread today, we talked about it and others learned an angle. Us in America have become to private with our conversations and that is why people could feel like outsiders. If Kev would have sent that to me via PM, then a conversation about the race or further relationship building couldn't have happened, like it did. I never would have established the relationships that I have established, or learned the things I have learned if it wasn't for a message board like this. You can't have fun in the pool without getting wet is basically what I am getting at. I personally think that there are people on here that make it intimidating to post, and that has completely subsided with proper governerce. Hopefully this post alone will be read by people that don't post yet and it will make them start posting because all knowledge, even if it is wrong or misguided, is a good thing. Hopefully they will realize that 95% of the water is a perfect temperature Scav

Explain to me why you couldn't have PM'd him this.
I know this board is a little more personal than a few others, but you guys are unreal. You want a little personal playbox and you want Steve to pick up the tab. There are like 10 different sections, put them where they belong. Maybe they can make a section and call it Oracle's sandbox, or Scav's playbox.

I didn't PM this because I wanted OTHERS to agree with me. Steve is a person that will listen to EVERYONE'S opinion. That is what makes good things great, and good people great. Steve and I have a great relationship. People don't want to agree with me then fine. I am also going to respect his opinion on it either way, but I disagree with that statement, and I am sure others will also.
As far as Steve picking up the tab on this, you are putting words on my mouth and others, which is ridiculous. He did this on HIS OWN ACCORD.

You know what, you are right. These are annoying but I can just jump over them. Oracle is just so annoying that when he does it is really annoying.
There is no reason to ruin the personal nature of the board. I just find Oracle such a hypocrit and so annoying that when he does it I get annoyed because he is one of those jerks that sends threatening PM's and thinks he can have his own set of rules. You know what, I see you are like Oracle, who loves to post these personal things that clutter boards.
Go ahead, if you guys are in such need of attention that you can't PM each other, maybe it is what makes you happy. Honestly, I have never seen it on other boards. It is almost like a cry for attention. You guys should get together with my housemate.

I agree 100%. Sometimes, some of us want to get someones attention on this board but yet we also want others thoughts and opinions as well. No harm, in my humble opinion, in those threads you speak of. We are adults after all, and if their is something we feel the need to convey to another member without others knowledge, the feature is available for our use as many I am certain use on a daily basis. The beauty of this board is that anyone that is a member may click on any thread and read and respond at their will. Over time they will find who the ones are that are "questionable". I can be that at times

In all honesty...it's just a habit with me. Being a golf professional for so many years, a big role we play is in customer service. A big part of customer service is making people feel comfortable by using their names when addressing them. It is just something I have been doing for 15+ years now...and it carrys over to my conversations on here. In no way, shape or form am I attempting to exclude or discourage anyone from reading or responding to my threads that may be addressed to someone in particular...in fact, I encourage it. It's just the way I converse with people.
Apologies to anyone that may have been offended by those types of post. BUT, in all fairness Steve, I posted 2 threads in the Sections Forum that produced nice winnings to anyone that may have played them. Hardly anyone posted on those threads...Sniper made 1 comment on one and Gander on the other. Too many people seem interested in arguing about Polytrack in the millionth thread about it...or beating each other up about Bernardini and the shieks and all the other B.S. that none of us have any control over. No body seems actually interested in handicapping and making scores anymore. Im sorry...I am gonna stop now, as I am going off on a tangent. Last edited by GPK : 10-13-2006 at 10:56 PM.
