![]() There's always next year, maybe then
![]() Actually if the Rangers don't do it now, they are going to have a difficult time signing all of their restricted/unrestricted free agents under the cap - Figuring they will make a 1 year play for St. Louis ( ![]() ![]() They still have to sign (in addition to Marty): Staal (would assume wants a 5+ year deal) Zuccarello Stempniak Hunwick Talbot Stepan Hagelin J.T. Miller Fast Moore That's a lot of zeros and commas |

Zuccarello, Stepan(?) and Staal are already locked up. Stempniak was TRADED a few months ago. Talbot will be traded, but he is signed thru next year. Fast and JT Miller are rookies, no contract issues yet. Hunwick is journeyman defenceman who isn't really an issue. Finally, based on Marty's play this year, hard to imagine him returning without a major pay cut. |

![]() Apparently that report was a little dated - but regardless, rookies or not - Fast and Miller are still restricted free agents next year.
Stall is going to account for 6 million against the cap, and Marty will likely get half of his 5.6 million to stay another year. That over 12% of your salary cap tied up in just two players - they are not going to be the same team next year. |
