Default Edgar Prado has had enough

It's time for Mr. Prado to hang up his tack. The performance today on Run of the River in the Spa 8th was absolutely deplorable. Yes, I bet the horse. Yes, he was a key in my multi-race plays. He did everything possible to not give the best horse in the race any opportunity to win. I won't describe each call, watch the replay and shake your head. My frustration was validated by the bevy of tweets from well respected handicappers. A friend mentioned that Shug may have wanted to give Edgar an easy W at the Spa. Probably true.

EP has had a tremendous career. I remember when he broke in on the MD circuit. Success came quickly and lasted for a good 15 years. It's enough already. Kind of like Willie Mays when he played for the Mets at the end of his career.

That was a catastrophically bad ride today and it cost me a lot of money. Very unfortunate. There are very few riders in the room, only one even comes to mind, that would not have won on that horse today.

Even Abel would have won.

It's tough to watch. There were a lot of Hall of Famers in town for the ceremony for Shug to use, Manny Ycaza, Eddie Maple, Chris McCarron, Jerry Bailey to name a few.. The Klesaris Bros., his long time associates, tried to get him a win in the nightcap too and he actually gave that one a good try rallying wide for 2nd.

That horse was definitely loaded. Reminds me of Stevens on Gorilla in the 2005 BC Mile.

Default RunHappy Edgar

I'm sure when you are a jockey in your later 50s your skills will diminish .
Not a bad ride for Edgar here. Let's also give props when they are warranted as well. We all like to bury the dead or near dead, let's give kudos once in a while too.

He is 48...and also 4 years younger than Stevens.

No matter he's old for a jockey. 48/56 it's old for a jockey. Was still a good ride and worthy of kudo or two vs the getting ripped open a new one for a bad ride a week or two earlier. If it's worth the negative comments a little praise Once in a while or pat on the back can't hurt once in a while.

No one defended him before the Kings Bishop. He has thrown more then 1 horrible ride at Saratoga. He did nothing wrong in the Kings Bishop, he never got in the horses way..... That's how its supposed to be, but he didn't really do anything special. The horse ran a huge race on everyone's figures. I am confident it had nothing to do with Prado. The trainer is absolutely beautiful though, that could have had something to do with it.

Well until trainers stop calling him I guess he will ride.

Use your dislike to your advantage. if he's on a horse that's less than 3-1, don't bet him. Scratch him out in every race. It takes him out of the race and therefore you may have better success at better odds.

Saw the replay....elected to stay on the rail, always risky...steadied when the #1 horse cut in front of him, he is screwed at that point in the race.

but I've seen worse from other "great" jocks. all part of the game.
