Saratoga Wednesday Aug. 19th Analysis
Race 2:
#4 The Undersheriff: Second place finisher from the debut came back to win earlier this meet and his works since have a bit more pep to them. Eligible to improve second time out. #1 You Got It: Fit enough and flashed his quickest work over this surface. #3 Forever in Love is SCR... #9 Governor Malibu: A big lumbering type that went 10.3 in unspectacular fashion in March. Clement can get them ready and he can plod up late. #7 not bred to win early and not much to like from his debut in the mud (by Super Savers who generally love the slop). Race 3: #6 Laxfield Road #1 Celestial Sighting #4 Simple Surprise Race 4: #8 Lady Gracenote: Has previously won over this distance on the green and attracts Irad this time around. Didn't like the way she looked on the track when I used her earlier this meet. Balsamo has done well with limited starters on this surface here before. #3 Asperites is SCR... #2 Rhythm Queen #12 Bargaining Table Race 5: #2 Gametown: Casse has burned money this meet so far but his 2yos on the lawn have done well. This is a fast looking colt who went in 9.4 when shown the whip a few times. Works have held that standard and his dam won her debut at 2yo. #3 Little Schmo: Cuts back to a more reasonable distance after blazing the way going long. Went back and watched his sales work when he was a well held 10.1. Think he's got more ability than shown so far. #1 Light Brigade: Chad has a great record bringing them out sprinting on the turf but there isn't much pedigree for it and his work on the surface doesn't appear to be overly convincing. #5 Argot Race 6: #7 Don Dulce: Old-timer still has ability as he's kept on well in good company recently. Last win came around two turns as did his win here in '13. Levine hasn't had a great start to the meet but his record here off the claim is phenomenal. #8 Hereditary: Shug brings them back firing, but I just can't have him on top at what should be a short price on a runner who does have a few questions and really only has the one race that "towers" over these. #6 Face of Winner: Holds the pace advantage but could be pushed by stretch-out towards the inside. Generally has seemed to regress off his peak performances. #2 So Clutch #4 with the constant bar shoe concerns me... Race 7: #4 Charming Indy is SCR... #5 Extinct Charm: Ran on after an awkward start in his debut and flashed a bit more early speed with a better beginning when battling on well at big odds in stakes company. Don't think he's found a tough spot here and the jock upgrade is eminent. Dam won as a baby so I'm not too worried about his sibs not being overly precocious. #10 Fish Trappe Road #8 Spin Cycle #1 was thoroughly unimpressive in his sales work and I am completely baffled as to why he sold for 300k, never mind 162k here last year as a yearling. Dutrow is 9 for 10 ITM at the meet but I can't have him on the win line. Race 8: #5 Sylvia T #4 Winner's Legacy #7 Hail Cornell #9 Khaleesi Kat Wonder about #10 wiring them... Race 9: #8 Trophee: Clement is 0-for when bringing maiden winners back in turf routes at Saratoga. Even without that I thought her run wasn't that bad and the distance won't be an issue, or so her pedigree says. #7 Wigwam Baby: Dam won at 9f on the turf and then became a hurdler for these same connections. Shep' will get his win at some point and it would only be fitting should it happen at 11f. #3 Rock Me Mama #5 Lahinch Classics Race 10: #4 Wild Finish: Think he needed the run last time and his stalking style sets up perfectly for this. Like him getting back out to 7f and have to go with a bit of a price in a race like this. #2 American Creed: Beaten by a couple of these foes in his last two but gets a positive barn change and has the inside speed. #7 Jeter #11 Flying Zealous #5 has a chance switching back to dirt, #8 isn't one I want but can't get beat by him, and #10 has done well at FL with the barn change. Have to go deep in this. $0.60 Pick Five Race 2: 1, 4 Race 3: 1, 6 Race 4: 2, 8 Race 5: 1, 2, 3 Race 6: 6, 7, 8 $43.20 $0.60 Early Pick Four Race 3: 1, 4, 6 Race 4: 2, 8, 12 Race 5: 1, 2, 3, 5 Race 6: 6, 7, 8 $64.80 $0.60 Late Pick Four Race 7: 5, 10 Race 8: 4, 5, 7, 9 Race 9: 7, 8 Race 10: 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11 $67.20 Good luck! Kites, doesn't it bother you that they paid $675K for Gametown to start him out at 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass ? Especially since he's been workin lights out on the dirt?

Casse said on Steve's show that he likes starting out on turf or poly even if they are dirt horses. Doesn't want them to get discouraged by the kickback.

The dam was a SW and multiple-SP on the lawn and as I mentioned Casse has been better with the ones he's run on this surface so I'm not too worried. Can't comment on what ADJMK wrote but he had one purchased for even more running a week and a half ago by Tiznow that didn't seem to belong on the surface and ran 2nd.
