I can't believe it, terribly sad. RIP. One of the all time greats.

He was the first live concert I ever went to in my life, it was at the Nassau Coliseum, I believe in 1985. He saw Eddie Murphy in the audience and Eddie jumped on stage with him, it was a great show.

An incredible performer and talent who could not even read music. RIP.

my first as well, in Maryland at the old cap center. Sheila e was the opening act. my sister somehow managed to get two tickets, because the purple rain tour was freaking HUGE.
I knew every damn line to that movie. watched it god knows how many times. played the album incessantly...my mother did NOT like the darling nikki song one bit. hehe
scott weiland was a blow, but not totally unexpected with his years of drug use. but this?! from the freaking FLU?! just cannot believe it.

Flulike symptoms often times are a precursor to a heart attack. He died way too young and he didnt have a reputation for abusing his body. Sobering.

He played a mean guitar. He could play anything actually , but the 2 tines I saw him were over 20 years apart , but I left thinking the same thing... I was in the presence of a guitar genius. Hope the ladder takes you someplace special
