![]() The Downs after Dark left most of us in the dark except for one player who had a good
good night. El Prado and Real Quiet had a winner each but not enough to hit the board. NJ Stinks took home all the points and made it look easy. In the 3rd NJS put $40 to win on Mambo at the Gym and the mutuel was a nice $14.80. He added an exacta with Bingo Kitten and purred home with a nice $36.40 exacta which he had 5 times. Congrats on the win NJS. Nicely played. With a win "over the track" NJ Stinks could be "odds on" to win next weeks Derby Contest. Luckily for us next week is an "automatic" so NJ Stinks home venue of Kamloops is out. See you all next week at the Derby. Good luck to all your favorites. PS.....an objection of "catnapping" was disallowed. According to our rules any player can use a cat as long as it's under 100-1 WIN... NJ Stinks... +$378.00... ![]() Thanks for the good news, Real Quiet!
As far as next week goes, I have future bets on Practical Joke, Lookin At Lee, and Royal Mo (who is on the bubble to get in if another colt withdraws). My other future bet was Iliad and Iliad just 'retired' if one can use the term for a 3 year old colt before it's Derby is run! ![]() I'm backwheeling in the exacta for a buck any and all of my future plays that enter the starting gate Saturday. Not just here but for real too! Unfortunately, I'm going to need plenty of ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks, DG

NJ seems to be employing a very intelligent money management tool to increase his chances of profit. He has already locked in his price on the future bets if any of his picks win. I don't know what his odds are, but suspect they are very generous. By "backwheeling" in the exacta, he is trying to create a situation in which he profits if any of his picks finish either 1st or 2nd. He does this by playing an exacta that is ALL/ Practical Joke and another that is ALL/ Looking At Lee. If Royal Mo draws in he will do the same with him. Since each of those horses will be going off at generous odds, presumably the exacta with any of them underneath will also be generous. Also, NJ will have the opportunity to look at the exacta "will pays" to figure out just how much he needs to bet in his exactas to cover the amount he has already invested in the future pools. Now, if the exacta comes in Practical Joke/Looking At Lee or vice versa, NJ will be a very happy handicapper since he will have cashed both his future win bet and a VERY nice exacta. Good luck to you NJ. I'm probably going a different route, but like your style of money management. Not unlike an arbitrage play in the stock market. NJ, if I have not described what you meant by your "backwheel" reference, please correct me. |

![]() Joly, you described it better than I could have. And made me sound smarter than I am!
One other factor for me is that I believe the exacta backwheel bet has greater potential to result in a bigger score than taking the same money and making a place bet on any of the colts I have a future bet on. Let's face it. I'm looking for chaos! ![]() |
