#6 Whitman’s Poetry is the only Sport of Kings Maiden winner and possesses flat track speed that makes him very competitive.

Other runners that have speed and must be considered on top include #1 Sixty Five, #2 Boss Man and #5 Dark Gemini.

Hat’s off to Steve Byk and his interview of trainer Arch Kingsley, trainer of #2 Boss Man, on 7/31 At The Races show. Arch was accurate in his claim that his win at Queen’s Plate 4/28 was against a very good field. The 2nd, 3rd and 5th place runners ran huge in their next Sport of King Maiden races. In addition, Arch said he has been following this horse for 5 years, waiting for a chance over the jumps. In his 4/14 Tryon race, he pulled up because the ground was too hard, saving him for another day.

The early pace in the race will be moderate, giving a chance to both front runners and stalkers. As a result, possessing flat track speed will be vital in the 3 furlong run after the last fence.
