Default Any Questions?

Invasor the good older horse beats the good 3yo.

Maybe people will now understand the difference between easy romps against weaker fields, and a battler that wins even with obstacles.

I feel totally justified after this race. Bernardini had beat no one and when the chips were down he didnt have what it took. He needed the challenge before today and thats why (I feel) he didnt win.

We wanted to know what would happen when someone looked him in the eye.
Not to worry, no one can look him in the eye they said.

Really?

I'm happy for Kiaran, what a great trainer this guy is!!

It's a great story for Kiaran. Brought to his knees a few years ago by MS, and now on top of the world. What a great story.

Agree, ArlJim. Things are different in big fields with lots of competition the whole way around.

If they go ahead and retire him now, at least they can't say "there's nothing else to prove". Nothing against Bernardini. He ran a super race, and finishing 2nd in the BC Classic can hardly be called a disgrace. But to say he's the best thing we've seen in decades was over the top for the amount he'd raced.

Amen Jim! It's been hard to find some support for that cause around here. I hope you had Invasor like myself.

Oh you bet I did! He bailed out my day. It should have been a real big day for me becasue I also had Red Rocks and Street Sense but I managed to not do much until the finale.

I'm not going to be one of those guys that bumps up his old posts but I have made several attempts over the past couple of months to explain why I thought Invasor could very well beat Dini. Beside the fact that he is flat out very fast, it was also the way in which he won his races. He had to overcome many obstacles, going wide, lots of dirt in the face, pace pressure early and late, etc. But not many would listen.

I drew a line through the Dubai race because of the Valium that they found in his system. If you draw a line through that race what is apparent is that this is a tremendous horse and is undefeated in the Western Hemisphere.

People would just say things like, "Well he can't be as good because he only beat Sun King by a nose"

I really liked him today but was too stupid to just bet money on his nose. I was still trying to sniff out a big score. I bet like a moron!

We've all had to hear this from so many for all these months.
"Just imagine how much he'll win by win he is asked?"

How many times did we hear that?

Bernie is a hell of a 3 year old... I'm more impressed with him than I was to begin with...

With that said, he showed very little heart today... JMO.

Well, I have to admit it - the Lava Dude doesn't ship well. Those South American horses are all tough as nails; many of their G1s down there have purses that are under $100K in our money, so one can buy a champion for less than one pays for a high-end yearling.

Default Great Horse comparisons can be put to rest

No excuses. Bernardini ran an excellent race but he simply wasn't the best. The comparisons to other great horses in the past should stop now. He's obviously an incredible horse but simply not an all time great. In my mind, he would have had to do more than just win today to be put in the class of previous great horses. The racing god's have rendered a decision; Bernardini is another in a long list of overhyped horses.

Thank God. Invasor would've beaten him in the Gold Cup too.
